No Blues and Reds

OK, I will share my thoughts a little more. This has nothing to do with Red and Blues wandering around the ship. This is more of a loyalty cruise.

Let me explain; each year one ship is selected for one cruise for only those that are loyal to Carnival. That would be, Diamond, Platinum and Gold (or those that need a few days at sea to obtain Gold Status). This cruise would cost more than a similar cruise at that time; that is, one that is available to anyone regardless of the color of their Sign & Sail card. But the benefits to those on this charter would see benefits unlike anything offered before by Carnival, i.e. Concerts, high profile comedians (George Lopez, etc), reduce drinks or cheers prices, high quality branded merchandise, special dining menus, and list goes on and on. All with no additional costs.

I think this would be a perfect program during the slow cruising season, while at the same time appreciating those cruisers dedicated to Carnival.

I won't say you are wrong to share your opinion; but do you think carnival is going to sell out a ship to guests less likely to play bingo, book shore excursions, try out specialty dining; etc. Many experienced cruisers have been there, done that, so discretionary spend is not as high.

If you want higher caliber food, entertainment, merchandise, etc., and are willing to pay more for it you'd be better off trying out Princess.

I would be interested to see how many loyal Carnival cruisers would be willing to spend more for a cruise that they could get for less on another ship. I'm all about the loyalty, but price is a factor that drives my decision.

I "get" what you're saying, but don't think it would ever happen. I do have to agree with many others too...just because you're not gold or above on Carnival doesn't mean you're not an experienced cruiser.

The fact is that cruise lines rely on their repeat passengers and know that "if you sail it they will come".

Off season or not, ships basically sail full every cruise.

I have a gold card and I am not at all loyal to Carnival. I am just lucky enough to cruise often. I actually prefer a different line, but I book cruises that go where I want to go, when I want to go, for a price that I want to pay.

I don't understand the loyalty folks, but they exist on every line. In my experience, Carnival has the fewest of them. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the perks that come with a higher status.

Personally, I would never consider a cruise like this, as I expect it would be filled with loyalty-conscious cruisers.

I wouldn't be invited because I'm a red card still

I'm no newbie to cruising, but I suppose I wouldn't be considered loyal since I get around. :p

I get what you mean though, I do think it would be an interesting idea. A way to celebrate those loyal to the line. But I don't see them ever doing it because the more I cruise the less I spend on board. Me buy a bunch of photos? No way! :D

I enjoy being able to give my cruise and travel stories to people - especially people who are cruising for the first time. Even better, i love to convince people to try cruising for the first time. I love it so much...just because someone is new to cruising does not mean they are not well travelled, so maybe they can share stories about their other travels, while I share stories about my love of cruising and other travel as well. its a very interesting mix when you have a diverse group of cruisers together.

I had twenty some cruises under my belt before I ever boarded a Carnival ship. Many years ago Celebrity and NCL had "special" Captain's Club and Latitudes member cruises. I believe they have discontinued these cruises or just have a special discount for loyalty club members.

I am now Platinum and I like the free laundry but otherwise I don't really care about card color.

Also, the on board revenue on this cruise would be terrible. Long time cruisers don't spend the money on pictures, drinks, casino, excursions, etc. like the people who are first time or just have a few cruises.

I believe Platinum/Diamond cruisers can cause as many traffic jams and other issues as newbies. However, you won't see many Platinum or Diamond cruisers getting drunk and wandering the halls.

Take care,

Mike

Would there be an interest for Carnival to create a cruise just for Diamond, Platinum and Gold Cruisers? This cruise would have special activities and beverage (as well as other items) prices. No newbies (red or blues) would be allowed. Just experienced Carnival cruisers.

They already have it ... It is called:

PRINCESS

LOL

with so much negative talk about blue and red guest it makes me want to be rude to anyone flashing a gold , platinum or diamond ... some of us "red" cards are seasoned cruisers , maybe we should wear past cruise history badges so you know we are "ok" to fraternize with

Makes sense to me, at least to try it.

The thought of a cruise with nothing but platinums and diamonds makes me cringe. Hell to the no on that idea.

Agreed!!!!!!

LOL...I can just imagine the boarding fiasco. Imagine all those diamonds complaining about the platinums mowing them down trying to get on the ship earlier! LOL.

I must be doing something wrong.

I have never noticed the color of other people's cards.

I cannot think of one single reason I would intentionally TRY to notice.

Not intentional, but when they lay it on the bar right next to you to pay for a drink it's kinda hard not to see.

Yes! When everyone is special, no one is special :D Imagine dis-embarking - the whole ship-load trying priority self-disembarkation....

Which is part of the reason that they have different colors, making it easier to see who gets the perks.

What perks:confused::confused: I keep looking at Carnival's loyalty program, and unless they're hidden somewhere, I really don't see any perks that would encourage loyalty.

True - but if EVERYONE on the cruise was Platinum/Diamond, then NONE of them would be special. Try getting priority boarding on that tender. Imagine everyone using the priority line at Guest Services. Forget staggered embarkation - EVERYONE gets on early. "What's that, madam? You're Platinum? Back of the line, please..."

They are there for you to see, so is it you can't find them or I guess you do not find them enticing, which is fine.

Where they belong.... Just joking. As all of this is just speculation, what would entice me would a cruise where they did special things (for everyone on the cruise) as a loyalty type thing. Kind of like a bloggers cruise, but giving and showing things that are not normally done or offered. More interaction with the crew, opportunities to do things not normally offered, insights to unusual things.
