We are Platinum and all of our cruises except 1 we have had the opportunity to bring a first time cruiser with us. To me if it is neat to see someone on their very first cruise and see them say wow as they see the ship the first time. It's almost like reliving our first cruise through them. Just wish I had someone with experience on my first one with me; maybe I would known that it wasn't a requirement to attend every activity on the cruise there would be future opportunities[emoji41]. Anyhow I'm not a fan of exclusion if I were I would sail on a yacht.

see, no one likes getting judged by superificial issues.

Where would you all sleep if there were such a cruise? All the interiors would be booked and all the balconys and suites empty.

You would like a interior cabin only cruise of diamond and platinum people? A 3 day to the Bahamas from Florida perhaps?

the only superficial issue i see is putting someone down because they desire something that most likely won't come true because it would probably be cost ineffective.

i don't know about anyone else but i would sleep in the bed i booked on the cruise whether it be a balcony/ov/pt/inside. heck if everyone did book all the interiors that would make the price of the balconies plummet. :)

don't worry, most plats and diamonds i have met are not elitist. and i don't think the op is either. he/she just wished they would have a cruise dedicated to the more loyal passengers and i see nothing wrong with wishing for that. kind of like wishing for a child free cruise.....probably will never happen but it's nice to wish for it.

I'm sure most are great. But, those that make a negative impression (both experienced & inexperienced) are the ones that people remember. Wishing for a dedicated cruise for "loyal passengers" is elitist in my mind.

No it wouldnt. Cruises sail sold out which means all interiors are booked. I'll still pay 4-6 thousand dollars for my cruise in cabin alone. Probably closer to 8 thousand dollars with the excurisons, up charges, tips (we tip in addition to the pre paid tips), casino (a few cruises ago I spent nearly a thousand dollars at the casino but I was on a roll) tours, etc.

OK, I will share my thoughts a little more. This has nothing to do with Red and Blues wandering around the ship. This is more of a loyalty cruise.

Let me explain; each year one ship is selected for one cruise for only those that are loyal to Carnival. That would be, Diamond, Platinum and Gold (or those that need a few days at sea to obtain Gold Status). This cruise would cost more than a similar cruise at that time; that is, one that is available to anyone regardless of the color of their Sign & Sail card. But the benefits to those on this charter would see benefits unlike anything offered before by Carnival, i.e. Concerts, high profile comedians (George Lopez, etc), reduce drinks or cheers prices, high quality branded merchandise, special dining menus, and list goes on and on. All with no additional costs.

I think this would be a perfect program during the slow cruising season, while at the same time appreciating those cruisers dedicated to Carnival.

I guess I could not go on said cruise because although I am Carnival platinum, I cruise other lines and not loyal to Carnival. I would not pay more to be on a cruise with other Carnival dedicated loyalists and George Lopez ain't funny. No additional costs??? How??? Anyhows, I like the Blues..."You got to suffer if you want to sail the Blues"

LOL, I guess you got part of your answer.... All that being said, if they did a Diamond or Diamond/Platinum charter offering something unique as a loyalty thing, I might be interested.

Well this is no different than eliminating new passengers! And quite frankly, most golds would probably already be platinum if Carnival had not changed the structure:rolleyes::rolleyes:

and that is your prerogative. but in the end i'll get the same value loyalty wise from my 1,500 dollar 7 night cruise that you get from your 8,000 dollar 7 night cruise and i can take 3 more 7 night cruises for the money you spent on the one. i'll get much better value and more loyalty as far as carnival is concerned and that's the way the game is played. ;)

Actually it is very different. First of all, it is a hypothetical, secondly my suggestion was for a cruise (as a thought I might add) that did something very different for their most loyal cruisers. What does the change in the loyalty program have to do with anything? We can discuss the need for the to make those changes if you would like, but it is a different subject.

I just had to come into this thread to see what it was all about. The reason for this is my hubby and I just took our 3rd Carnival cruise...which of course would mean we are both red card cruisers. However, they gave him a blue card for this last cruise and I just laughed the entire time about it (and of course came up with various things to initiate him with being a "newbie" and all :D). He didn't care one way or the other what color his card was and never got it changed. I did make sure once we got home that they had all of his cruises linked to his VIFP account and they were. No clue why the mishap.

As you can see in my signature line, I may be a red card holder, but I wouldn't exactly consider myself a cruise "newbie". :p I always wonder how many others are coming from a different line to try out Carnival and could possibly enjoy them as much as I have, but yet have cruised a lot. I find that it makes for a good conversation with others on board.

We were all new once. :)

OK...we get it! You're rich and you like throwing money around and make sure people around you know you're rich. Let me bow before you!

PS Any particular reason you don't sail on one of the high end lines?

And you've been on Celebrity how many times? Once?

Indeed, it IS Celebrity, not Carnival. One comment from a passenger should not be used to judge a cruise line. Otherwise, bring a travel umbrella.

Nor should posts from people on this forum, which surely constitute less than 1% of carnival's cruise passengers, "be used to judge a cruise line". A cruise line, which may I interject, you have never stepped foot on and yet seem to have certainly formed an opinion regarding, and use that preconceived notion to lambast and lecture those who actually do like and sail on it regularly.

I am still at a loss for why on earth you frequent this board what seems like multiple times daily, to do as much.

It's a conundrum, wrapped in a riddle.

So very true. I never would have dreamed I would be in a position to visit to so many different places. I am blessed....we all are.

If I were rich, I would have booked the grand suite.

I have a Gold card; my wife is a lowly Red. I won't even speak to her on a ship until she reaches Gold also.

baaahahahahaa. :D

I just turned gold this last cruise. I guess I should have been down in steerage prior to that ;)
