Voom wifi

Hi,

 

I am sailing on the IOS and am wondering which wifi package to purchase.

 

I want to check emails, use FB and messenger to text and make calls. I do not need to stream music or films etc.

 

Would voom surf be adequate or should I purchase voom surf + stream.

 

Is Voom surf unlimited?

I asked this same question for similar needs...and opted for the Voom Surf for one device in just one of our names..it was $63.63 for my unlimited package.

It probably doesn't make a diff on ships without real Voom - there's likely no diff between the two tiers. Making calls might be iffy, but you should be able to do the rest.

But what's real Voom ? I have not seem any quoted speeds of the upgrade on the ships that this has been added too ?

I doubt that Royal will quote real speeds, it's unlike them to be specific. However, the real VOOM speeds I've seen people post from Oasis class are in the Mbits/s, and the non-VOOM speeds are in the Kbits/s.

The reported speed on Anthem was about 25MBs while some have reported speeds on non-Voom ships in the 100KBs range. Also, on non-Voom ships the latency is at least 2-3 times of a Voom equipped ship (because of the much lower altitude of the O3B satellites).
