Tampa Hotel(s) Recommendations

Looking for a decent hotel close to the Tampa Cruise Port that has a shuttle. Any recommendations?

Hands down Embassy Suites dowtown! We have stayed here for our last 3 cruises out of Tampa. While there is no shuttle service you can walk to the pier if you want to (it would take about 10 minutes to walk). or grab a taxi and it will cost you less than $10! They also have a free breakfast with made to order omletts, there is the trolly right outside which for a couple of bucks you can take it to Ybor and go to a great reastuarant for dinner (the columbia), and they have a free happy hour with free mixed drinks! Can you tell I like this hotel??? lol

If you want to have an experience different from the chain hotels, try the Tahitian Inn. It offers free shuttle from airport and to cruise port. We stayed there a couple of years ago, and many of the hotel guests were cruisers. The hotel is family owned, and the rooms are from a different era, but they were clean and fine for one night. They have a nice pool with a poolside bar. You can check them out on the internet and see what you think.

We also loved the Embassy Suites downtown but we really loved the Marriott Waterside right across the street from Embassy.

 

You can go wrong with either one and you will only be about a mile from the port.

Several hotels in the Rocky Point area offer cruise packages including free airport and port shuttles - about a 15 minute shuttle ride to/from the port. Chase Suites, Hampton Inn, etc.

Following need to book something for March cruise

Holiday Inn Rocky Point, Hampton Rocky Point, Chase Suites Rocky Point...all have excellent cruise pkgs with a round trip shuttle back to the hotel or to Tampa airport. All are waterfront...nice views.

 

On a budget....the La Quinta Tampa Airport. Airport shuttle, complimentary breakfast, great rates and a small $ pp shuttle fee to the port. It's a clean hotel, decent pool and in an good area directly across from the International Plaza Mall....many restaurants and shopping. There's a 24 hr IHOP adjacent for late arriving flights.

 

The Residence Inn Downtown Tampa. You would need to take Uber or a taxi to the hotel but it's a great choice and near the port.

 

Bay Harbor Hotel.....not sure if there is a cruise pkg but a great hotel in Rocky Point that has a white beach area, a private balcony and great water views.
