rawley2 Posted May 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2016 84 days out and we do. Lol. Well one excursion is not because it's private and they will not take it until we get there. We even have a $50 on board credit. Lol
surfjock27 Posted May 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2016 Always. I prefer the all inclusive feel.
Myscruf Posted May 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2016 I prepay all I can. We always do a little pampering in the spa and usually book private tours so we always have some out of pocket but love feeling like you can totally relax knowing its paid for in advance. isaiahsnana Posted May 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 26, 2016 Prepay all except the alcohol. Don't drin enough to make cheers an option, but everything else is taken care of including tips and parking. We are about 2 months and 11 days out!! firemanbobswife Posted May 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 26, 2016 I pay as much ahead of time as possible including gratuities and sometimes Bottomless Bubbles. I don't really drink so if I have a couple it's no biggie. I do go with a decent amount of Gift Cards and only set up a cash account onboard. So I guess you could say my whole trip is prepaid because it's already budgeted and paid for using Gift Cards. I do bring extra cash for tips and going ashore. But that money is set aside ahead of time. It's nice to not have a bill at the end.
deborahjo Posted May 26, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 26, 2016 At 133 days we had everything paid. Even our hotel for 2 days before cruise. We do this every cruise. Just so much easier. We have $1000 in Carnival gift cards for anything else we want on the ship. We do go to the casino but do not spend anywhere near that much. DH buys a new watch on one cruise a year. He started upgrading so he can get kind of spendy but he saves for that to.

Tracey/Thom Posted May 27, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 27, 2016 Some folks dislike giving an interest free loan to Carnival....but I like prepaying it a few weeks before, just so as not to have to think about a big bill when I return home, that ruins a cruise! cruzelover55 Posted May 27, 2016 #13 Share Posted May 27, 2016 We don't prepay everything..now or later..what difference does it make? I think I will find out on our next cruise if it makes a difference. 1st time to prepay gratuities, 1st time to prepay Cheers! Impossible to leave the ship with a zero balance, for us, anyway. Nice though, having some things already paid for, as my husband takes that month off, and as soon as we get home we unpack, repack and on "on the road again". Smaller bill means more money to play elsewhere, when we return.:)
buddylover Posted May 27, 2016 #14 Share Posted May 27, 2016 We prepay as much as possible as we go along. Since we book so far off, Just pay a little every month....at the end our hotels pre cruise, rental car, gratuities, shore excursions (generally independent companies) airfare, is all paid up. The only expenses not paid are those incurred on the ship, but generally not too much extra is left at the end!! Feels like the vacation is for free.....LOL...when it arrives!:):)

We also book way ahead, and of course we know it isn't, but surely feels like a free vacation. A little at a time, beats that one BIG bill at the end.:)
E&B Posted May 27, 2016 #17 Share Posted May 27, 2016 (edited) Except for pre-cruise and post cruise costs (hotel, rental car etc) we have had everything pre-paid for our August cruise for several months. Cruise fare, tips and Cheers. We do plan on bringing cash for extra tips, but the only charges we'll have onboard is our steakhouse meal and maybe a picture or two. doneinne Posted May 27, 2016 #18 Share Posted May 27, 2016 We prepay as much as we can. Less money we have worry about taking. Also no big bill to have to pay off. Ever since taking Dave Ramsey course I avoid debt as much as I can.
ryano Posted May 27, 2016 #19 Share Posted May 27, 2016 peace of mind for some people. Exactly. This next cruise on Magic will be the first cruise I havent paid in full within a month of booking and prepaid as much as possible sometimes almost a year in advance. The peace of mind of knowing my vacation is paid in full months in advance > the pennies that money would earn in my account. Being 16 months out on my next cruise I will just pay a monthly payment until its paid in full. Prepaid grats have already been added.

cmukid87 Posted May 27, 2016 #22 Share Posted May 27, 2016 Each cruise is different but everything that can be paid for is. Upcoming cruise (about 150 days): Grat's are paid Gift Cards are on hand for all on board spending Gift cards are on hand to purchase flights (at about 100 days out) Parking and hotel at the port are paid for Excursions we book with outside companies but they are the last thing off of the list. minikiss Posted May 27, 2016 #23 Share Posted May 27, 2016 We like to pre pay as much as we can, as it has in the past worked out in our favour to, but depends on the set exchange rate. Last 2 on Princess we put gift credit on in advance to. So nice to have a positive balance at the start. Even better when we don't spend it all. As said with Princess they have a set exchange so it's easy to see what things in dollars will cost. Don't think Carnival work the same way? I have pre paid the Grats for our sailing as got them at the old rates. I would add credit to the account but I see Carnival "keep" what you don't spend, so no way am I going to give away my money! I have to say I don't agree with that bit. Princess refund you.
Bridgot Posted May 27, 2016 #24 Share Posted May 27, 2016 We do! cruise, excursions, cheers, bubbles for the kids, grats, parking and extra gift cards ready to add to our sail and sign. We love the all inclusive feel!
Foxinspace Posted May 27, 2016 #25 Share Posted May 27, 2016 Usually we are prepaid for the everything except on board spending before we leave. We set a budget for the spending and have the money set aside for that also. I won't prepay anything for the next cruise (except the reduced deposit) until the final payment is due. I live in Canada and if the exchange rate changes (as it slowly has been) I might get to save some money!
