My time dining question

Recommended Posts

This will be our first time using my time dining (we normally choose early dining) on Oasis... Do we have to make a reservation with the MDR for what time we want to eat or can we just show up at whatever time works for us on that night? I truthfully prefer an early set dining time but somehow we got lumped into my time dining.

TIA!!

Reservations are not required.

If you still want early traditional dining, go to the Main Dining Room as soon as you board and see if you can be changed.

My Time Dining is just that....... you can dine any time that suits you when the restaurant is open. You may have to wait for a table but you don't have to eat at the same table with the same people at the same time every night. Table for two sir? Just come this way!

We tried My Time Dining a couple of cruises ago and then went back to main seating for our most recent cruise. After about 2 nights, we both felt that we preferred My Time Dining for flexibility.

When we did do My Time, we reserved a set time each evening before the cruise started so we wouldn't have to wait in line without having a reserved time. During the cruise, we were able to have the same servers every night, because they were outstanding, and, even though we sat at a table for two, most of the people at the surrounding tables were the same each evening and we got to know them during the week.

We also changed our dining time a couple of nights because of events we wanted to attend and having My Time made that easy versus having the set seating.

As noted, reservations are not required, but if you know what time you want to dine, there is no reason not to get them. It will keep you from waiting in line. One of the reasons we like MTD is because their early seating is sooner than normal dining. Reservations also give you more flexibility in choosing your seating location. If you really like your servers, you are going to want to be seated in their area next time.

You still have to wait in line (and give them your cabin #) to be escorted to your table...we saw one couple that just started walking in the doors...they stopped them pretty fast and told them to get in line behind those waiting ;)

Obviously, but you aren't waiting around for a table to open up. People with reservations will get seated first. And, as mentioned, you have a greater flexibility in choosing your seating.

It wasn't "obvious" to the couple we saw...and may not be to the OP who is using MTD for the first time ;)
