I suspect it's all automated and easier than working out who gets one and who doesn't.

msmoger Posted June 5, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2016 So, I received an email today from the Captain for our upcoming Pacific Princess cruise in August. I have no complaint, in fact I like these emails. It gets me that much more excited (if that's possible ;)). However, I wonder who designs these emails. Am I missing something or is this an "odd" way for the Captain's signature to appear in the email? LOL!! Sincerely, Captain Capt JP Bryant Captain
Shogun Posted June 5, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 5, 2016 Hi Kenswing, My may concern was we were getting up graded, the last up grade took us from a cabin with a view to cabin with no view, was lucky that our original cabin was still available and got moved back, with two weeks to sailing though we could be playing cabin roulette. Hi msmoger Like getting pre cruise e mails, part of the count down to your cruise and provides information, this e mail was point less just confirming booking. yours Shogun

It was that way last year when he commanded the Ocean Princess for a couple of weeks before Rickard Lorentzen came back from his holiday. I even sent a note to Princess about it. Obviously it was disregarded. BTW, JP is young for a captain and is a real nice guy. A true Renaissance Man as well, read his bio.
1965 Posted June 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 5, 2016 Shogun-You gotta' wonder-how can they consider going from a cabin with a view to a cabin w/o a view to be an upgrade?! Love Princess, but don't quite understand their upgrade standards. :)

Love Princess, but don't quite understand their upgrade standards. :) To Princess, an upgrade is to any higher category. You could be in an "obstructed window" category OZ cabin with very little obstruction. But obstructed window categories OY, OW, and OV would all be considered an upgrade by Princess. Some of those cabins will have very little obstructed views and some will have 100% obstructed views. But, being closer to the center of the ship, they would be an upgrade by Princess standards.
