tootsie7 Posted June 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Checking to see where we could eat lunch after boarding other than the buffet.
Badfinger Posted June 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2016 The Italian restaurant (free at lunch) is a good alternative. If it is like my experience on the Magic, there will only be a handful of people there early on. Only drawback is the basketball banging overhead on the sports courts. Trade-off with everything! cb at sea Posted June 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Eat a late breakfast, and you won't need to worry about eating as soon as you board!
kona_wahine Posted June 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Guys and blue iguana are also open. Pizza, and I think the deli.
Ready 2 Go Posted June 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2016 When we boarded last year in July we were able to eat lunch in the MDR. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
HawkIVette Posted June 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2016 I second the Italian restaurant. Back of the ship above the buffet. Small staircase on starboard side right behind the desert bar.
kingoftheicedragons Posted June 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 11, 2016 I'm another vote for the Italian restaurant for embarkation day lunch. There will only be a few others up there, so service should be quick. Also a good day to do this versus waiting until later in the cruise.
OKC Cruisers Posted June 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Blue Iguana is my restaurant of choice for embarkation. Love the shrimp burritos and the fish tacos! Go down great with the Fun Ship drink of the day! Pete
pusywillow Posted June 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Guy's Burgers with the drink of the day that the waiters will be bringing around.
Lefty Writer Posted June 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 11, 2016 ALL of the above are fantastic choices. My wife really loves Indian food, and the Tandoor grill on aft Lido typically isn't that crowded either.

Trumpster Posted June 11, 2016 #14 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Tandoor is our go to place, followed by the Cucina Pasta bar. Kids like the pasta bar so we often sit there and order salads and kids meals and bring our Tandoor up to it. They don't seem to care.

SkyPiglet Posted June 13, 2016 #17 Share Posted June 13, 2016 If you like Indian, and don't mind a bit of spice, hit Tandoor. It is some of the best food on the ship and shouldn't be too crowded at embarcation before other passengers "discover" it. To be fair, Breeze had some of the best restaurants in general. :D
wo5m Posted June 14, 2016 #18 Share Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) Being the 8'th person(yes I counted) to endorse the Italian restaurant, I will say I enjoy I like getting there early at a table by the window and watch the activities bellow at the cruise terminal. However, I'm not sure this is on all Carnival Ships, but on my last cruise I learned before we sailed that on the Carnival Legend, the first person at the Red Frog Pub gets a free beer. We had FTTF and I told the people behind us about it(since I don't drink) and they later thanked me and said they were the first and got it. wo5m Posted June 14, 2016 #19 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Ok, I get it, I fell for it too. The question was "places to eat" not places to get food!:p With that in mind, I think it can be put simply just by saying, anywhere! Though I haven't tried eating while on the ropes course yet. Sounds like a bucket list item!:D I would advice against trying to eat something underwater in the pool or hot tubs. Yes, I have seen someone who was drunk try this.
JaniceB Posted June 14, 2016 #20 Share Posted June 14, 2016 So many choices! I have enjoyed the Italian restaurant but this time I have a feeling DH will want the Indian food. Only question will be where to sit, eat and people watch.

Also the Tandoor, which is my favorite eatery onboard. The grilled fish and chicken, along with the Naan bread and Mediterranean salad are the best!!!
