I loved your review from start to finish, you certainly have a knack for writing. I especially enjoyed witnessing your personal growth as you became enlightened by the forums rules committee!

I'm starting to get very excited about my upcoming trip on the Breakaway at the end of August! Thanks for helping to get me in the mood for cruising.

Thanks so much! I enjoyed writing the review!

Have a wonderful cruise!!

We really enjoyed your review! Like you, we have recently traveled in a Haven suite on the Getaway. We enjoyed the Haven Restaurant and the quiet deck space, but I doubt we will ever be in a Haven suite again. Back to a regular balcony for us! And, please let your son & his friends know that seeing MDQ was an absolute highlight of the cruise for us. We even snuck in for a second show ourselves! Best show ever at sea:D

Yay! Will do! Thanks! Most people (at least when they were in Chicago) wanted to see it more than once!

As far as guests coming into the Haven, we have stayed in the Haven many times. I understand not allowing them use of the bar or restaurant, or pool/deck area. But we met 2 very nice ladies on our Jewel cruise and asked our butler if we could bring them to our room for pre-dinner drinks and apps. He said we could, provided appetizers for us and we met them at the entrance to the Haven and escorted them to our room. No problems. Plus, this way people get to see the Haven first-hand, and it might convince them to upgrade on a future cruise. It probably depends on who the concierge or butler is on your sailing.

We saw MDQ on the Escape and would have been excited to meet the cast, anywhere on the ship. We have seen "Oh what a night" twice, and did meet one of the cast members out on deck. It is fun, esp. when you enjoy a show as much as we enjoyed both of those shows.

Guests are always welcomed in your suite in the Haven. You can also ask friends to have a meal with you or invite them to a sail away party or cabin crawl in your Haven suite.

Thank you for your feedback, but my "guest" being a cast/crew member, had to get permission from the captain in writing to come to our room. (Which he did) I have come to the realization that there is a difference between a paying guest and a crew member understandably.

As I mentioned before, if our son re-ups for another contract next spring and we go to the Baltic on the Getaway, we will not stay in the Haven. I do not want to stay in a place where he is not welcomed. There are plenty of other nice places we can visit. He still will have to get written permission to come to our room no matter where we stay.

A suggestion here. Even though your son will get that written permission, you might want to request an extra room key and give it to him. That way he could use your room during his off time should you be out and about. He probably would enjoy the balcony or larger space to catch a nap.

Sweet! Good idea!

I was responding to another poster who was talking about inviting other passengers to their Haven suite, not referring to your son, other crew members or your issue. Yes, there is a big difference in paying customers and the hired help when it comes to policies on cruise ships.

Hi, Seminole!

I just got back from the Country Music Hall of Fame. Saw a bunch of Carl Perkins stuff and thought of MDQ! Made me think about how great our cruise is going to be...will enjoy watching your son!

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July

That is in Nashville right?

How fun! Carl Perkins was awesome, but most people do not know much about him, for example he and Johnny Cash were best friends. He ended up playing lead guitar for Cash for many years. ( I did not know anything about him until Kurt got this part) There is a book that recently came out about the Million Dollar Quartet. There is a chapter about each of the artists, Sam Phillips and the making of the Broadway show. Thanks for sharing!

Happy Fourth to you too!

Diane the Seminole!
