  1. Can you rent a car at the cruise ship port? We will be on a Windstar ship and would like to rent a car when our cruise is over.
  2. I would like to recommend a website called whatsinport.com It says "it is your cruise guide to 1200 ports of call". It was very helpful to me in planning our Mediterranean cruise on the NCL Getaway last August. Palamos is one of the ports listed.
  3. The Windstar ship with the sails. My fav cruise of all time was on a Windstar ship from Istanbul to Athens.
  4. Barcelona was the cruise port I was most looking forward to last August 2023. It was very crowded and hot. Now I do not know why the NCL excursions are not showing up, but I would recommend a private tour. (or at least a semi-private tour) We used Pepito tours and Jose Sole is the tour guide who responded to us and made arrangements. (He might be the owner) We had a private guide (not Jose, but a knowledgable, fun young woman from Barcelona) and driver. We were able to zip around and beat the crowds. Jose has one of the tours recommended by Rick Steves. We did all things Gaudi, but I think you can customize their tours. They met us at the ship. It was fantastic. Our guide even recommended a fabulous tapas restaurant for lunch when we were finished. There was a line waiting to get in and she helped us skip the line and get a great table. We met our son and DIL there for lunch. It was my favorite day on the cruise. I would love to go back there someday. Good luck!
  5. In August, we were on a Mediterranean cruise on the Getaway staying in the Haven. We got permission for our son and DIL (who work on the ship) to have lunch with us in the Haven on a port day. We could not get permission for them to have dinner with us as the Haven was completely full and very busy. It was $30 per person. So yes, you have to be invited by a Haven guest to eat in the Haven and even then, you might not get permission. I went thru the concierge and dining room supervisor. I think the money is worth it for the experience. We all really enjoyed it.
  6. We were on the Getaway several weeks ago. The Viva was in port with us in Cannes. She was so impressive and beautiful!
  7. Thanks for the memories. We just got off the Getaway in the Haven August 27.
  8. Just double checking. I am getting ready to write a letter to the concierge and the butler about some things we need done. We leave 2 weeks from today! I know the butler is not included in the pre-paid gratuities. I want to tip him/her 1/2 of the tip on the first day. I think I also read that the concierge is not included in the prepaid gratuities. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for the answer.
  9. We were in a spa balcony cabin. We chose to upgrade to a Haven stateroom that did not have spa privileges, so we lost those. We are going to the Mediterranean in August, so I was OK with giving up the thermal spa amenities. Just FYI.
  10. Beetlejuice The Musical is being added to the Viva. I have never seen it but it was on Broadway for awhile.
  11. The entertainers wear street clothes and will be fired for behaving badly so to speak.
  12. They got on the ship in May. Thank you for your kind words. They just got married in October so it’s like an extended honeymoon with work.
  13. I am really looking forward to Broadway Unplugged! I have seen bits and pieces of videos. Thanks for your kind words.
  14. My son and DIL are in MDQ on the Getaway currently. They say MDQ is safe for now. We are going to see them in August. They tell me they get their exact schedule for the shows week to week. I too wanted to make dinner ressies around the show and they said it was too soon to know what nights they would be performing. They did say MDQ is usually performed towards the latter part of the cruise. They are also in Broadway Unplugged and have to cover for Burn the Floor as the singers sometimes.
  15. On the Getaway they are using the Illusionarium to perform Broadway Unplugged
  16. Haven guests also have hot tubs in the courtyard.
  17. True, as I mentioned I moved from a spa cabin to a non spa cabin. Thanks for the clarification.
  18. Except for the spa. We were in a spa Balcony non-haven and upgraded to the Forward Facing Aft Suite Haven for an August cruise in the Mediterranean . I was told that we would lose our thermal spa privileges. We are going places where it will be extremely hot, so I figured we could use the hot tubs in the Haven if we needed to. I personally think we should have been able to keep the thermal spa privileges (my DH likes it), but oh well. I too think that it would be worth it to upgrade to the Haven. My fav perk is being escorted off the ship and not have to wait in a line. This is nice in a port intensive cruise. We were in the Haven on a Baltic Cruise and it was fantastic!
