Norwegian Escape - Haven Sundeck

Someone mentioned that there was a "smoking area" in the front of the Haven sun deck? Is this true? The Haven sundeck area does not look that large and it seems odd that they would have a smoking area there, particularly in the front where smoke would blow all over.

 

We are not opposed to being exposed to a little smoke - walking by the casino does not bother us like some people, but it might bother us all week on a hot sun deck.

Yes, it's true. It's a section at the very front of the sundeck. There are plexi-glass (or at least I assume that's the material) dividers between that portion of the sundeck and the rest. It doesn't completely block it off, but I would assume it prevents the smoke from drifting directly downwind.

The smoke was never a problem as I was up there several times with my kids.

It is in the front and is partitioned off.

 

The whole area is open air. I don't see how it could be a problem. If it is, there is a public side you can try.

The outside sun deck is huge with plenty of loungers to choose from away from the forward smoking section.

It is quite annoying that they decided to put the smoking section upwind of the rest of the sun deck. They could have put it downwind against the partition with the vibe. Better yet, ban smoking in the Havens sun deck.

Although, it didn't bother us so I can't complain. I'll see how it is on our next cruise.

I am very sensitive to smoke and one morning I was sitting in the hot tub downwind from the smoking area. There where 2 smokers using the space. I could smell it but it really was not bad enough to effect me. The wind diffuses it so quickly.

 

 

Now if there where maybe 5 or more people smoking it might be a issue.

I had no idea that area was for smoking. We sat there several times and I didn't see anyone smoking. I realize it could be different on every cruise but thought I'd mention that. I thought the partition had more to do with wind and didn't realize it was for smoking. Shows how much I know, LOL.

 

I am very sensitive to smoke - and hate it. And had no idea there was smoking there.
