Three New Downtown Fort Lauderdale Hotels.

Plans have been approved, permits issued, and ground broken on three new downtown Fort Lauderdale Hotels.

Along with All Aboard Florida, the high speed train between downtown Miami and Orlando (four stations, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Orlando) and the Wave Trolley from the airport to downtown, there is a lot going on downtown.

I expect the crime that there is to completely go away. Almost everything downtown is being refurbished, rebuilt, or newly built.

The Tribute Hotel, The Element Hotel, and The Flagler Village Hotel.

The Bahia Mar project and Bahia Cabana are still on hold but I expect something to happen. I have very well placed spies.

Geez, hopefully it doesn't get like Brickell with the overbuilding. I'm so over it!!!

A brand new hotel opened here that people may not know about. East Hotel in Brickell Citi Centre. It's an amazing hotel and they have some great deals going on with them just opening. CNN Traveler just voted their rooftop bar, Sugar, one of the top 10 rooftop bars in the US. It's really beautiful up there!

The East Hotel and rooftop bar Sugar look very cool ... I will have to head over there for happy hour one evening after work, or go for lunch (when it is not so hot!). The pool looks very inviting!

We have two new hotels opening up later this summer in LBTS as well ... Shaka and Plunge. These are on the site of the former 2 buildings of the Florida Beach Hotels and the Captains Quarters (El Mar Dr).

Lots of development happening in south Florida!

Very cool and not to mention all the other development going on around Lauderdale Beach (Auberge), and the neighborhood in and around the North Beach area, south of Sunrise Blvd (Paramount, Four Seasons, etc.)

The Captain's Quarters was one of my very favorite old Florida mom and pop motels.

My cousins were in town this week staying in LBTS so I was up there all week.

Happy 4th!

We may have passed each other along the way!

I really hope the new hotel owners at the former Captain's Quarters do something fabulous with that beachside bar!
