HiLo71 Posted June 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2016 We'll be staying in Amsterdam for 3 nights after our River Cruise in May 2017...looking for a place in a decent location to some of the sights (not too far from Anne Frank's house). Would love a bed and breakfast type place but really just want something reasonable with easy access....so a hotel is also fine. Any suggestions? Also anyone know of any tour companies that cater to hotel guests? Info much appreciated
prish Posted June 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2016 We stayed at the Brouwer last year, this is a small B&B in a historic old building on the Singel Canal, midway between Dam square and Anne Frank House. We loved the place, very centrally located and you can walk everywhere. There's also a tram stop nearby, as well as lots of small restaurants. They fill up very fast thought, you can email to ask, the owner Boegem usually replies by return. info@www.hotelbrouwer.nl

Ine Posted June 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2016 You will find many B&B's on this site: http://www.amsterdam-bed-and-breakfasts.com/ Please be aware that often B&B and also small (or older) hotels lack an elevator, while rooms will be 2nd or 3rd floor. Rooms also might be smaller then expected. Also know that in Europe, 1st floor is what in the USA is called 2nd floor. Amsterdam is a compact city, very walkable and excellent public transportation. HiLo71 Posted June 30, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 30, 2016 Thank you as well Ine...have some research to do... Thank you for mentioning about the stairs....I do have some small knee issues so a B&B may not be the best choice for us? Can you recommend a few reasonable hotels? Rare brazilgirl Posted July 4, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 4, 2016 The Toren is very near Anne Frank's house and is amazing.
sunsetbeachgal Posted July 5, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) We stayed at the Singel Hotel, small and very well located on a quiet side street within walking distance of train station. Amsterdam is quite expensive and we prefer smaller more reasonable hotels like this Edited July 5, 2016 by sunsetbeachgal
qmcmret Posted July 5, 2016 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2016 Try the Owl Hotel. Good location, nice breakfast. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
annapolitan369 Posted July 6, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 6, 2016 We have stayed at the Toren. It is well located, around the corner from the Anne Frank House and is a really nice small hotel. However, it is not inexpensive! If it is in your price range, you won't go wrong with the Toren.
HiLo71 Posted July 7, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Thanks for all the suggestions and I did look into all of them. We finally decided on the Best Western Dam Square...seems like a good location and easy proximity to public transportation.
Cyber Kat Posted July 11, 2016 #13 Share Posted July 11, 2016 The Toren is very near Anne Frank's house and is amazing. We're booked at The Toren for our cruise in August - I'm excited to stay there. It looks lovely and I've heard such great things about this hotel.
