Help...Question of pre-paying for Vroom.

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

During our online check-in for our upcoming cruise on the Oasis, we came across a 30% discount for internet service if pre-paid. When pulling up, the rate came up at $9.09 pp per day. When I placed in the cart I had the option of choosing both my wife and I, or just one. For anyone who has pre-paid for internet, did you have to book all in the cabin, or just those you selected? We have no need for the internet other than checking in on email back home, therefore requiring nothing more than 1 person if indeed that can be done. $63.00 seems ok for the week, but a $126.00 seems pricey for email. We've written to RCCL with the same question, but have yet to hear back from them. Thank you in advance for your replies.

We recently did the Surf...one device...one person (no need to do it for two) and our pre-purchase total of $9.99 for 7 nights on Adventure actually came out to $63.63.

That was an RCI IT glitch for a couple of months - the initial screen said 9.99 but it was 9.09 once in the cart. I think that has now been rectified.

Just get it for 1 device. If both you and your wife need to check email, log off the one device and log in on the other one. If you're only going to be checking email (not watching Netflix or uploading videos) , there's no need to upgrade for the faster internet that is capable of streaming.

On Oasis, like other O3B equipped ships, the SURF download speed has been reported up to about 4MBs (vs. up to 25MB for STREAM) - that's plenty to stream most services including Netflix.
