Luggage in Athens

The airport is a fair distance from either Athens or the port, so you don't want to backtrack there. Athens and Piraeus (the port) are about 20-25 minutes distant from each other.

One option would be to arrange with a private driver to pick you up at the airport, take you around Athens for some limited sightseeing (keeping your luggage meanwhile), then dropping you at the port.

Another option, if you want to do things more on your own:

-- Take the metro from the airport into Athens. http://www.athensairporttaxi.com/metro/athens-airport-metro

-- Get off at Monastiraki station. Leave your bags at a locker here (if available) or at this luggage storage place that is very near: http://www.athenslockers.com/

-- The Monastiraki station is very near the main sites, including the Acropolis, Agora, Acropolis museum, etc.

-- When you need to leave for the port, reclaim your luggage and from the same metro station (Monastiraki) get on the GREEN line (different line) to Piraeus Port.

-- Only problem is that there is a long walk from the metro station to the port entrance. You may be able to get a bus or a taxi from here.
