New to cruise critic

Hi this is lindaanddavid, though we have cruised a lot we are new to cruise critic. Our next cruise is the 14 day Alaska from Seattle on August 1st. We are looking forward to meeting cruise critic members onboard and sharing experiences. We have done the same cruise before and loved it!!:)

Since you are new to Cruise Critic itself, you need to know they also have a separate "roll call" section in their opening page that allows posting by ship and date of sailing, where people sharing the same cruise can meet up online ahead of time. Hope you find yours and please ask if you need any further help.

 

Here is the general link to the HAL "Roll Calls" - scroll down for your ship and then weed through the entries to find your departure day or the name given to your particular cruise, though they try to make posts include the sail away date to keep it easier to navigate now.

But do stick around here too for general discussions about the ships, the line itself and just about anything else..... plus a collection of a lot of interior individual cabin photos for each ship.

Welcome to Cruise Critic. To 'meet' other CC members on your sailing, you need to join the ROLL CALL for your cruise. I believe this was explained on the welcome email you received. To find your ROLL CALL, click on the red starred Find Your HOLLAND AMERICA Roll Call on the upper left right above the Post Reply button. Alternatively, you can go back to the main boards page, scroll down to ROLL CALLS, click on Holland America, then your ship, and look for a thread with the dates for your cruise. EM

Just took my own advice and went looking to see if there was a Roll Call yet for the 2017 Voyage of the Vikings on the Rotterdam and found the 2016 Voyage of the Vikings which is just about ready to depart - and there are 35,000 hits - I guess the excitement is building!

We did the 14 day Alaska cruise in 2014 on the Amsterdam. LOVED IT! Want to do it again next year. We meet a couple from our roll call and have become friends that we keep in contact with and have since met on a camping trip!

But, some roll calls have far surpassed that - like our P'dam cruise. In fact there were so many posts, the mods closed the thread after we left.

 

If you didn't find your roll call, you are by no means a newbie on the boards so why not start another thread, and start your roll call? Often people are just waiting ;)
