shipmate13 Posted July 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2016 I have not been on Royal Caribbean for a couple years but the last time I was on it, they allowed us to punch a hole in our sign and sail cards. I thought I read somewhere recently that they are not allowing that anymore, is this correct?? We usually like to keep them on a lanyard. I don't want to put them in pockets or purses which I do not carry. Does it have something to do with the magnetic strip on the back and if so, can't you just punch a hole away from it. Things change so often now that you have to ask. thanks for anyone who can answer this for me. :)
TexCruise371 Posted July 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2016 We had our cards punched on Radiance last week and every other ship we have ever been on. ;) I haven't heard that but I'm deaf sometimes :)
FLACRUISER99 Posted July 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2016 (edited) I believe this only applies to only the new ships that have RFID cards. Edited July 20, 2016 by FLACRUISER99

I believe the newest ships (Quantum class and Harmony) are using chip technology in the SeaPass cards, so they have to be careful where the hole is punched. dedosr Posted July 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2016 It is so much easier to use WOW bands. The only time you will need the card is to leave and re board the ship. You can purchase them for $4.95 at GS. We got them for free on our Quantum sailing and kept them. We recently sailed on the Anthem and took our old WOW Bands (they are similar to a rubber wristwatch) from the Quantum on the Anthem. GS reprogramed them in less than a minute. My wife and I love the freedom of the Wow Bands and plan on taking them with us on our Harmony Cruise in November. They were not uncomfortable, and did not cause our wrists to sweat! No RFID chip to worry about. :)
