Steakhouse: First night free wine?

Read somewhere that the first night steakhouse free bottle of wine is gone and is now replaced with a 50% discount? True?

On my last cruise, there were certain bottles for free and the rest was a 50% discount.

That is incorrect information. Just off Breeze this morning, went to Steakhouse on the second night, you could get either a free bottle, OR 50% off another bottle of your choice.

I had Cheers, so our server said you can have the free bottle to take with you, I did, and whilst walking through the casino, a nice lady commented on the bottle of wine, and I gave it to her. :D:D

 

PS - the free wine was Santa Carolina, Chardonnay or Merlot

They still have it. Honestly I didn't like the free Merlot wish I would have paid for something else for 50% off.

Guests booking a reservation on either night will receive a complimentary bottle of house wine or 50% off any bottle from our wine list!

They have had this promotion for some years now and apparently steakhouse is pretty empty first night still so thinking it will continue.

It is pretty empty. The First minutes we were the only one there. Felt like I had a private restruant. When we left there was only two other couples there.

I just got a confirmation email from them and it said the following

 

"P.S. We are having a promotion in the Steakhouse Embarkation and first Cruise Elegant nights of the cruise!

Just got off the Valor. The wine promotion is valid on embarkation night as well as Elegant night, which for our 5 day Bahamas was night two. Free was Merlot or Chardonnay. 50 % off applied to any bottle on the list. We got one free (Merlot) and 50% off a Sauvignon Blanc, so you can take advantage of both offers! Steakhouse was dead on night two. Shame really.

Side note, I am doing the Cheers! program, so the free bottle gimmick didn't sway me very much. I am going to the steak house on the last night of the cruise.

Sailing out of Galveston you don't start Cheers until day 2 so we are going to go the first night and get our free bottle. Didn't know you could get the 50% off too. We may do that and take it back to the cabin. This way I won't have to carry a bottle on board with me.

I think was my reasoning for booking night 1. However I'm not a wine drinker so I think I may change to another evening. I do like the lobster in the MDR on the first cruise elegant night too so that promo night is out.

Agree wouldn't want to miss lobster. I got lobster in the steakhouse once and the lobster in the main dining room was better on that cruise.

We sailed Miracle last April and got the free bottle first night.....right after you embark they have a display of their steaks and someone taking reservations, that's when we found out about the free wine, we had already reserved for the first night.

We dined in the Conquest's steakhouse last month and we received a free bottle of wine and it wasn't even the first night. I think it was the third. They'll do it other nights if they are not getting a lot of reservations.
