Upgrades

I've seen a number of threads on RCCL message boards about upgrades and the "Upgrade Fairy." In fact, we got upgraded on the Rhapsody at the pier, from a balcony to a junior suite, in 2011.

 

Does Celebrity do upgrades like RCCL? I know that sometimes, RCCL contacts people to offer upgrades, while other times, people simply learn of an upgrade while reviewing their reservations on-line or checking in at the cruise terminal.

Not saying that it never happens, because in rare instances it does, but in 25+ Celebrity cruises the only upgrade we secured was a paid one and that was only available once.

Was just assigned s much higher category on a guarantee...and I have sailed with individuals who were upgraded pre cruise, but seems to not be the norm.

Upgrades happen more to those who book guarantee cabins, but not for those who pick their specific cabin. In more than 35 cruises, we've never been offered an upgrade.

Celebrity practice is to upgrade ist time cruisers, not us OF's who are going to cruise again with them anyway.
