preppykate08 Posted August 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Just got back from yet another amazing time in Bermuda on the Norwegian dawn. I thought I would Summarize my trip up in a few thoughts! If you have any questions I might be able to answer, just let me know! Thanks for reading! First off let's talk food- We stayed in a suite, so we were able to benefit from the breakfast and lunch in cagneys each day. Food was amazing, defiantly a great perk! I recommend the eggs Benedict and the French dip for lunch. Both great, but all of the food was delish. After reading a couple reviews on CC we originally decided as a group to not try the New Mexican restaurant los Lobos.. As the reviews were not good. But being an the avid Mexican food lover I am we changed our minds! And oh boy.. Am I glad we did!!!! Food was unreal amazing. Special cocktails frozen margaritas everything was amazing. I had the steak fajitas one night, and a burrito the other night. Yes we went twice!!!! We ordered the queso and sausage dish for an appetizer was amazing. Omg I can't rave about the food enough. Also if you like guacamole you NEED the freshly prepared table side guacamole in your life:) over all the Mexican restaurant was by far the best I've ever had. (Let me know if you want more info on that) I should include we had the UDP and the UBP both were absolutely worth it. But having the UDP we only ate in specialty restaurants for the entire cruise. Over all our second favorite was la cucina the Italian! That was great too. Cagneys was good steak was delicious as always, and moderno was.. Okay. We've been on this ship many times previous to dry dock. And I have to admit I was not super impressed with the new menus:( missed a lot of the old stuff! Ok moving on, time spent in Bermuda! One day we spent at the beach. Was beautiful. Another day we took the ferry to Hamilton. We did lots of shopping and had a blast. The last day we took a 4 hour cab ride touring the island. It was amazing and worth every penny. We saw turtles in an aquarium, we saw a botanical garden. Stopped in st George, went to Hamilton again and Checked out a fort! Highly recommend doing that. Our drivers name was "Sydney Robertson" he was awesome. Was 50$ per hour. The new renovations to the photo gallery are great. Makes it much much easier to find your photos as there all organized by cabin in a folder now! No more spending time searching for your pictures! I would love to tell you more so any questions please ask! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
preppykate08 Posted August 12, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Not sure how I forgot this.... But o'sheeans has some negative reviews here on CC as well... But I have to say we went there several times as we missed the window for cagneys lunch and ate pretty late. I had wings many times and the "pub" hot dog and it was delicious!! Others in my group tried the Ruben and said it was the best they ever had. And the fish and chips was amazing too. We did find our selves waiting in a line a couple times while at sea. But not a long wait at all. Defiantly a positive addition to the Dawn. The options and food were awesome Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Any issues with "cloudy" windows in your OS? I've read about the window issues and them being fixed during dry dock...wanted to see if you had cloudy windows during your cruise... Thanks much! Rhea98 Posted August 12, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks, especially for specialty dining reviews. We were wondering about the Mexican restaurant (as we were sitting in our favorite local one). I wonder if you'd tried Moderno on other ships. We really liked it on Epic--La Cucina, not so much. O'Sheehan's on Epic everyday on a transatlantic for breakfast and wings. I'll have to try the reuben again as it was soggy and tough. Anyway, we'll be trying some on Dawn in December as I think about your comments. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk

Suenelsen Posted August 12, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 12, 2016 preppykate08 ... We were also on the tour and in a suite ... Had a great time !!We also had the wonderful opportunity to go with Mr Sydney on the 2nd day we were in port ... It was the best way to see the island and get details that you would not necessarily get otherwise and being able to have a personal tour ... Glad that you had a great time

preppykate08 Posted August 12, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks for this upbeat review. Really looking forward to my turn in 14 days !!!! Did you use the casino at all? Oh yes we played in the casino!! Lost lots on the slots, another group member lost at the tables. BUT my mom spent HOURS playing the game where you drop the coins and it pushes them forward.. I mean hours. And she won! She one 2 folded money things. Lol! Lack of better wording. And she one a dice key chain, and a bottle of champagne! So that was an absolute blast. Overall we were on vacation and had lots of fun. Even while loosing! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Rare jm485 Posted August 12, 2016 #20 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks for the info -- a late season 2017 Dawn to BMA cruise is something I'm thinking about depending on how our Gem cruise is in September. How was the size of the balcony in the OS? Is this one of the ships that has OS with 2 balconies? We like private outside space, so the suites with larger balconies are something I'd like to hear more about. Also -- what did you do on Sunday? Any issues with transport? Thanks for your review! Yes we did have a suite with 2 balconies. We loved it, this is our go to room on the dawn. How ever the front balcony is not super private as your neighbors are right next door or below you. For us this was not an issue.. If your laying in a lounge chair no one else can see you. But if your standing over the railing your neighbors would be able to say hi! As for the side balcony completely private. The front balcony has enough space for two lounge chairs and a table. The aide balcony has enough room for a full wicker type (plastic) but looked wicker table and 3 chairs maybe? And then two comfy chairs with cushions! And for transportation on Sunday, when we got off the boat we walked right over to a man who was sort of.. Running the show! He was calling taxis over for what ever u wanted. Beach trip, Bermuda your etc. he was your guy. Just ask him what you wanted! We ended up taking a mini buss to the beach for 7$ per person. Basically a little bigger then a cab. Not a pink buss. We took this Instead of a taxi. A little cheaper for the group of 4 of us that went to the beach. When we were finished we caught the mini buss again and it brought us right back! mdhaugh Posted August 12, 2016 #24 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks so much for your review! We're in a Dawn suite coming up in about a month...on a New England cruise to Quebec City. But we love Bermuda, too. You mentioned how they changed the menus, did they further downsize Cagney's menus for breakfast and lunch? And it sounds like your UDP worked ok with the new Mexican ala carte restaurant? We booked an "old" UDP and wondering if it works slick with any of the specialty restaurants. thanks again! We were concerned with the ala cartel dining with the package. Worked out great were no problems at all. Didn't have to pay extra for anything and we could order as much as we wanted. As for downsizing.. Hmm I don't think I would say that. I think I would just say they took off a few of my favorites and replaced them with different options. One of the things cagneys no longer offer for lunch is the shrimp cocktail. Sad! They do still offer it for dinner how ever. But not anymore for lunch. Also they took a scallop and shrimp risotto which was my fav:( there are new options like a Brie burger as well as a few new appetizer. The breakfast menu is relatively the same. They used to have a crabs edge Benedict but they have replaced that for a seafood eggs Benedict. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
