CarnivalCreed Posted August 17, 2016 Author #26 Share Posted August 17, 2016 I've sailed her 3 times, and she's actually my favorite ship. That being said, we've only been on the smaller ones...but we love it. Perfect for a 5 day, not sure beyond that if there's enough to keep you busy. I have a couple reviews in my signature that have a lot of pics too. Enjoy! Thanks. I'll check it out now Sent from my iPad using Forums
Javacruiser Posted August 17, 2016 #27 Share Posted August 17, 2016 I was just on her last week...... Loved the itinerary and the ship was in great shape. I've sailed multiple times on each class of ship and there is less to do on the Fantasy class...... But I personally like them.
Herfnerd Posted August 17, 2016 #28 Share Posted August 17, 2016 First cruise was on the Fascination and enjoyed it. Older ship, but well maintained. Doesn't have the 2.0 upgrades but didn't really notice. Great staff. Wouldn't hesitate to sail on her again
ABQrobin Posted August 17, 2016 #29 Share Posted August 17, 2016 Fascination is now doing the itinerary from Puerto Rico, so in 7-day cruise it only has ONE sea day. Being that you are in ports all day every other day, I can't see how the smallness of the ship, nor the lack of frills would matter. Everyone should be off the ship daily doing things, excursions, or just hanging out on the islands. My DH now wants to consider that for our next cruise, in Feb 2017. I had my doubts at first, since it is an older ship without all the bells and whistles, but honestly we go on cruises to travel, not sit in a hotel. Just my 2 cents. tokiet Posted August 18, 2016 #30 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Are there any sports bars on Fascination? I'm sailing September 25th during football season. The other ships I've been on have EA Sports Bars and other bars that show the games. I'm hoping I can get my fix!:)

This is exactly how I feel about the Fascination for our upcoming cruise on her in a couple of months. I would actually rather be doing this itinerary on a ship like the Fascination than on a ship like the Breeze. Otherwise I would be disappointed that we wouldn't have enough time to explore the whole ship and partake in all of its amenities. You need at least two sea days for that, with three being better, on the bigger ships. TravelingAPor Posted August 25, 2016 #32 Share Posted August 25, 2016 I was on the new NCL Breakaway, not too long ago and I just returned from the Fascination. Honestly, it didn't make any difference to me. The ship is not really small, it just has less decks and specialty restaurants. I did miss the bigger & better shops, however I was too busy with my excursions and beach visits to really notice the difference. :D Don't fret, your in-laws will be too busy, to notice any difference. Relax & enjoy your cruise.
Rare patrice1 Posted August 25, 2016 #33 Share Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) We have sailed the Ecstasy, Fantasy, Imagination and Fascination. It was always because we only had time for a 4 day cruise and they were much less money. We enjoyed each of them in their own way. For those who don't like the American Table, they have the old menus, for those who like the grill with hot dogs & hamburgers instead of "Guys", they have that, too. They still have all the other venues of a larger ship like the comedy & piano bar and are easier to get around in with less lines. They have Chef's Table. We have been on all but the newer Dream class ships and will sail whatever fits our budget and time off. TravelingAPor Posted August 27, 2016 #36 Share Posted August 27, 2016 I don't think Fascination had the American Table.
Kak86 Posted August 28, 2016 #37 Share Posted August 28, 2016 I've sailed this itinerary twice in the last 4 years, first time on Valor (loved this ship) and then on Conquest. Initially I booked for the islands, not really considering the ship. Neither of those two had the 2.0 refurbs yet. When I started researching for next spring, I was sad to see the Fascination is now the only Carnival ship departing from San Juan. Looking forward to seeing reviews from more recent cruises before booking spring break.
cruisin_addict Posted September 17, 2016 #38 Share Posted September 17, 2016 We will be on the Fascination this October. 22 days to be exact! On our last cruise the hubby and I both got a "free cruise" from the casino, so we are able to take friends with us. Super pumped for the iternary, as we haven't done a Southern Caribbean cruise yet. Kinda of bummed about some of the things that are on other ships that aren't on this one, i.e. Guys and the Steakhouse, but we have enough excursions planned that we won't be on the ship enough anyway.
