Transfers from Barcelona to Port

Any suggestions on best ways to transfer from Barcelona Airport (BCN) to the cruise port? We are sailing on NCL Epic next summer, but wanted to get some ideas on transfers. Also, our flight arrives at 8:25 am. Staying in Haven. What is the earliest we can get onboard? Lastly, is it worth checking out Barcelona or heading straight over to the ship. Thanks all!

Easiest would be a cab Euro 40.

Alternatively, transportation via the Aerobus from T1 or T2 to Placa Catalunya. Then a 15 min. walk straight down Las Rambla pulling your luggage to Columbus Monument and then boarding the Port Shuttle Bus to the port terminal.

Aerobus Euro 5.95

Port Shuttle Bus Euro 3.00

So for the adventurous who don't have mobility issues, it is Euro 8.95

For convenience and those with mobility issues Euro 40

Just use a taxi to get from airport to port. It's well worth the money for the convenience of it. The last time I cruised from Barcelona, I too had an early arrival and had grand plans of dropping off my luggage at the port and then venturing back into town to do some sightseeing before the late afternoon departure. In my case, my flight arrival was an overnight from New York City. Having not rested very well on the overnight flight, and arriving at the port in 90 degree heat at 9:30am, we opted just to get on the ship as soon as possible and begin our vacation in the air conditioning and pool. I don't regret that decision one bit. However, we DID have an extra day planned for Barcelona sightseeing at the end of the cruise, so I knew that I would still see the sights eventually.

When we arrived at port, there was still a lot of activity from the disembarking cruise. A lot of people were waiting on arranged transportation and people were starting to arrive for my cruise. They did not accept our luggage until 10am. And the entry to the air conditioned check-in process didn't start until about 10:30. So we sat around outside the building for about an hour in the heat competing for small amounts of shade. We were exhausted and hot, but still excited. At 10:30 we got inside the building and we were on board around 11:30 or 11:45. Your timing will vary depending on many possible factors.

I agree, also staying in haven you will be escorted to a side room where your conceriage will greet you and escort you onto the ship. A nice feature. I wouldn't want to be sight seeing with my luggage in tow. Barcelona is on my go back to list as a place to revisit.

There are plenty of taxis at the airport and the fare is set so they can't rip you off. I can't remember exactley how much, but it was set depending on how many people/bags as well as the destination. However we pre-booked a transfer through Sun Transfers and don't regret it for a second! We were met in port by someone with a sign with our name on, escorted to his taxi (which turned out to be a mini van even though we had booked a normal car for the two of us), helped with our luggage and driven swiftly and safely to the port. Cost the same as the normal taxi fare.

I think we arrived at the port around 11.20 and people were already boarding, we were on board before 12.

My experience last year, with a similar flight, was that they did take my luggage before 10am (9:30 maybe?), and I was able to enter the air-conditioned building, but I still had to sit down until around 10:30 before they started the registration lines.

I'm going again in about a week and I hope it's still the same! I did the "wait outside in the sun" once in Miami, and it's not as fun as you might think for something with the words "sun" and "Miami" in it.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the cab cost me around 30 Euros from airport to ship last year.

Lastly, is it worth checking out Barcelona or heading straight over to the ship.
Both… head to the ship first to drop off your luggage, and then, depending on how you're feeling after your flight, the temperature/weather, how much time you have before all-aboard, whether you have some extra time planned in Barcelona at the end of the cruise, etc. you can decide if you want to check-in and board, or head out again to do some sightseeing. (Decide before you board, because once you board the ship, you're going to forget all about sightseeing :))

The city is definitely worth visiting, and it would be a shame to do a cruise from there without seeing any of it.
