On most of my sailings, about 30. There has been a cigar bar. Lately I have noticed RCCL on their newer ships and AMPED UPs. They eliminated the cigar bar. I guess the socialists know best.  The cigar bars have been quiet getaways from the noise on these ships.   I have met many interesting people in these quiet venues. My wife will even come in for a chat. She can't stand the cigarette smoke, say in the casino.

Yes  I do smoke a stogie now and then. I never smoked cigarettes.

Liberty still has their cigar bar, but is scheduled to remove it. SAD !

I may have to go back to NCL ! Are you listening ROYAL ?

No, it is capitalism. The cigar bars are used by a small percentage of the passengers and generally keeps others away. Replace a cigar bar with a restaurant, regular bar or gift shop/store and you've added a new source of additional revenue. Increase the bottom line and satisfy investors. Pure capitalism, just like everything else they charge extra for on the ships.

If RCCL thought they could increase the bottom line they would allow strip clubs and opium dens.

Maybe they can make MORE MONEY. But then again the 100 or so that will go in/out of said cigar bar may just quit that cruise line.  Now just how many times have you been in a dedicated cigar bar ?

I am telling you. NCL looking better all the time over Royal that has continually cut their product back. Of course NONE of these cruise lines are what they used to be.

Hey go green is everywhere even when it does not make a lick a sense. Let's do this because a 1o year old on FakeBook says to.

This has been going on for many years and with Royals occupancy rates continuing to increase it really does not look like those few that smoke cigars and may go to another line concern Royal.

They WILL make more money. Now that have a bar that 1000 people will go to instead of 100. Even if the 100 leave that 900 staying and spending money. It's got nothing to do with being green, except the green of money.

It's the same reason that replace the Sky Chapels and the libraries, the space can be used to generate more revenue with the new configuration.

If you want to get a couple of thousand cigar smokers together, they will charter the entire ship for you and smoke away.
