bettyboop16 Posted August 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2016 Do you need to get a long distance carrier for Bermuda? If you turn your phone on will you get charged for roaming even when you aren't making a call? :)

reallyitsmema Posted August 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2016 How much you will be charged depends on who your cell phone carrier is and what type of phone you have. You will not be charged anything for just having your cellphone on if your phone is in airplane mode or if you turn data roaming off.
Tandi481 Posted August 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2016 Each cell phone carrier is different. I was curious also and looked it up on my phone carriers site. I have sprint and I can buy a international talk text and data plan for the time I will be in Bermuda Sent from my iPhone using Forums
hapster85 Posted August 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2016 If you have Verizon, Bermuda is a Travel Pass country. $10 will get you full access to your domestic plan's talk, text, and data. At $1.79 a minute for pay-as-you-go, even a short phone call will quickly make that worthwhile. As already pointed out, simply having your phone on will not incur any charges. Rare mking8288 Posted August 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2016 (edited) If you have Project Fi (by Google) as your MNVO, international (cellular) roaming is just 20 cents a minute and SMS (texting) is free & covered by the plan, formerly international data roaming at 3G speed has been enhanced 10X to 20X faster, to 4G/HSPA+ speed (not quite as fast as LTE) at $10 USD per GB, billed to your Google Fi account. Bermuda is recognized by part of the Caribbean islands - and, partner carrier is DigiCel. Welcome message to BDA on Fi Network - http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/d3ff8d22438ede9d1bdd536aab4b55a0.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/ce218a66599ec7451a9249ba17e1d381.jpg See this post (Semi Live Review) for more details - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2358922&page=8 Edited August 26, 2016 by mking8288
