judyzoo Posted August 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2016 Do the cabin attendants on river cruises usually perform twice daily service as they do on ocean cruises?
tsavorite Posted August 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2016 They certainly do on Tauck river cruises - although the evening service does not start until about 7 pm, as between 5 pm and 7 pm, the cabin attendants are working as the canape waiters in the main lounge during happy hour. There is a lot of doubling up and team work on a small river boat.

Rare Clay Clayton Posted September 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2016 They did on Viking and even added throw pillows to the bed during the day!
Missus Makkem Posted September 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2016 Another yes fro Viking the only thing they did not do was bring ice. There was an ice bucket in the cabin and ice station on each level to go get your own.
Redtravel Posted September 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2016 Ask for ice, and you may get it. On recent Viking, our cabin steward was always attentive to any request.

Missus Makkem Posted September 5, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2016 Maybe the ice comment was because the machine was just outside our cabin and being Brits we are not obsessed with ice in all our drinks, well not in our tea which we like hot. Redtravel Posted September 6, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2016 Americans love ice in drinks. Europeans are not big ice fans. Brits usually don't want ice. On a European cruise served by non Americans, putting ice in drinks is unusual. However, when you request ice, you get it. I would like to see an ice machine near the coffee stations. I love iced coffee and tea. In order to make it during the day, I had to make the hot beverage, go get ice, and mix them together. At meals, I got coffee/tea and a glass of ice.
