graciekelli Posted September 14, 2016 Author #76 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Really enjoying your posts. Like Spursgirl, I too live in London and had no idea about the Beafeater tour. I hope you enjoy Azamara as much as London. They are both fantastic. Thanks grandma gilly. We loved your fabulous city. It was so much fun. I can't wait to return. ellbon Posted September 14, 2016 #77 Share Posted September 14, 2016 I love Tayfun as a person.. he a great guy. I am not sure who your butler was but as far as I know no one ever had a problem switching out the bottles in the cabin.how odd!
QueenP Posted September 14, 2016 #78 Share Posted September 14, 2016 I'm pretty sure if you drink it it will be replaced straight away? From memory they replace anything you drink in the fridge. Grandma Gilly Posted September 14, 2016 #79 Share Posted September 14, 2016 You can definitely change the bottles of booze in your room. I know, we've done it several times as DH likes gin and I prefer red wine. Ask again, nicely but firmly!

Question: are some of my pictures thumbnails? Like from earlier posts? I think when I attach them through my phone they are big and through my laptop - small. Anyway that is how they are appearing on my devices. My butler was ravin. He was ok. I never had a butler so I have nothing to compare. But when asked about changing out the alcohol he said no. Being this was our first azamara I didn't think I could "insist". Also, we only did drink the gin. And "no" it was not replaced. All the sodas and waters were though. We did not drink the rooms wine as I didn't want to pay for it when ravin could serve it to us for free in our room. This doesn't make sense of course cause azamara is making their employees work harder for something we could just pour ourselves. But this is what we were told. He always switch mine to more vodka and a darker rum. .Maybe his boss crack down on him. He also great about replacing flowers in cabins. .he brings my breakfast and snacks daily. BBMacLaird Posted September 14, 2016 #85 Share Posted September 14, 2016 PS Any way you can reduce the size of the pics, they are driving my Ipad crazy and take so long to download I'm the last person who should comment on photos since I have yet to figure out how to embed them into a post, but what I find difficult about huge pictures is they make the poster's text extremely small. One must expand the screen to the Nth! I am hopeful CC will upgrade someday to technology that adjusts the ratio automatically. But that is an aside comment. Graciekellie, I too am enjoying your review, including the pictures! You two are a darling couple. So glad you enjoyed your cruise with us. Last time we were onboard he was being promoted to asst head housekeeper. Maybe it was temp holiday cover.
graciekelli Posted September 14, 2016 Author #88 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Ravin is one of their best butlers, I am wondering if there was a misunderstanding about what you were asking for. I have never known him not do a swap. we always swap out the rum without question. Here is what he told me when I asked if he could switch out the other bottles and just give us Gin. "I cannot do that. The only bottles we have are not the same size they are big ones, so we cannot switch them." So I have no idea why some were able to switch them and we were not. Maybe they ran out of the small bottles. Maybe new policy. I don't know. Please know it did not ruin our cruise by not having it.

graciekelli Posted September 14, 2016 Author #90 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Final pictures and thoughts re: suite This room was lovely. Bed was a little hard but when we mentioned this to our stewardess she layered it with additional padding and it was wonderful - in fact bobby still is talking about how much he loved that bed. The balcony was a nice size and as I mentioned the bathtub was too high making the ceiling too low for taller people, but I totally fit and my tall husband didn't really care that he had to bend down to shower. We felt very pampered. Our butler took care of us. The stewardess felicidad was as sweet as can be. So now for the one thing that might be a problem for some was the noise above our room. A lot of scrapping, rolling type of noises. It did not really bother me but its noticeable and for those who are sensitive to noise it maybe problematic. My rating on the overall room is A- Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

graciekelli Posted September 15, 2016 Author #92 Share Posted September 15, 2016 Our first port was a combo of a sea day with a port day because our arrival was Amsterdam in the evening. I think we arrived at 6:00 pm. So It was neat how we were able to spend our first full day hanging around the ship and then have a "date night" in Amsterdam. I had scheduled a candlelight wine and cheese canal cruise that was scheduled for 9:00 pm. We had dinner on the ship in the buffet (sorry I can't remember what we ate) and then made our way by foot to the cruise dock. graciekelli Posted September 15, 2016 Author #93 Share Posted September 15, 2016 We had a wonderful evening. I highly recommend this cruise. It was so wonderful. One exciting tid bit occurred as we were cruising around, on the sides of the canal are homes and docks of course businesses and the such. Well one such house with dock had several people trying to board there barge like vessel it was moving away from the dock and boom! A young lady fell from the side right into the canal. Pretty exciting stuff! Her male companions all reached in to assist her up. We sat next to Our captain who told us that in all his years of captaining (? Is that a word) his vessel he has never seen that happen. We all had a good laugh. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

graciekelli Posted September 15, 2016 Author #95 Share Posted September 15, 2016 Here are some pictures from our sea day ... Relaxing on these very comfy double lounges near the pool.(romantic and fun) Playing shuffleboard (every chance we could get) The casino. I don't gamble. But I like it when bobby does. His game of choice is roulette. And at the end of the cruise we left with more with more than we came with[emoji1] This makes mama very happy. graciekelli Posted September 15, 2016 Author #97 Share Posted September 15, 2016 I think one of the neat things about azamara is that we spent longer times in our ports. This allowed us to enjoy our ports that much more. So our visit to Amsterdam continued into the next day. Our bike journey included a ride through the the city into the countryside where we visited a cheese farm where they also made wooden shoes. This was a great day. graciekelli Posted September 16, 2016 Author #100 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Dinner at aqualina was fabulous. We ate there twice. It was beautiful with ocean front tables and when you're in the north Baltic where the sun stays up til 10 the view is fabulous. The service is impeccable and the food was what I would find at any high end restaurant here in Los Angeles. I highly recommend aqualina. Grade: A+ We eat late. It's about 8:00 pm - love the seating here Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
