Cashing a Carnival Gift Card in.

They have to be applied to your S&S account first. I had no problems cashing out the balance on my account from loaded gift cards on the last night at guest services last week. In the past I was able to do the same at the kiosk but not on the Magic. I think the ability to do that varies ship by ship.

i had $30+ left from my carnival gift cards and i was sent a check for that amount about 2 weeks after i returned home. I was surprised because they told me at guest services that i would loose it.

I'm sailing on the Magic 10-1-16 and I have a few gift cards. Do I need to just take them to guest services to have them put on my S&S account? Also just to clarify, when I have them added as OBC the funds can be used for whatever purchases are made on the S&S card (ex. tips, excursions, spa)?

Yes, you can take them to guest services to apply them to your S&S account or use one of the kiosks. Once applied to your account, you can buy anything onboard that you have the funds for on your S&S card. There are no restrictions of what you are allowed to buy.

We brought $1200 in gift cards with us last week. Plus we had a good amount of obc. I didn't cash them all in or use all of what we did. I cashed out the balance at guest services and have a few cards left over to apply towards my balance for the next cruise. I buy them obsessively!:)

We just apply them at guest services. Every time we've tried to use the kiosk the gift card balance had shown up as zero and we've had to go to guest services. By applying at check in you can bypass all that.

It's really not that big of a deal to cash out at the casino (just did it yesterday). You will not be allowed to do it at guest services.

Why not? We sure did. Waited until we were finished spending. Walked to guest services and cashed out the unused portion of our s&s which was on there from gift cards. Never heard of an issue cashing out at guest services. I know it varies at the kiosk. We cashed out at the kiosk on the Sunshine and the Freedom but couldn't on the Magic.

You must have managed to get a GS person who didn't know better. TECHNICALLY, they aren't supposed to, but as with everything else on Carnival, YMMV.

 

I checked the kiosk on the Sunshine Friday, as I was going to jays try to get mine out that was. It was going to allow me to take a small Portion, but not all of my funds from the kiosk.

My brother was on the Valor last year and cashed his balance out at guest services, so maybe that person didn't know any better either.

 

As far as I can conclude, if you take no action at all to zero out your account before the end of the last night, cash balances will yield a check and balances from gift cards will yield a gift card sent to you with the balance. But if you go to cash out then you will get your funds right then. Now yes it could depend on the amount but who knows. I had less than $100 left over on the Magic last week. On the Sunshine- I believe it was like $108. I was able to get that from the kiosk. My advice using gift cards is to load them as you need so there's not a lot of excess to worry about getting back.

You can apply your Gift Card at check in. Give it to the check in agent, and they should be able to apply it to your sail and sign card. Then, if you have a remaining balance you can cash out at Guest Services or try the kiosk at the end of the cruise.

It been a while since I have been on Carnival and am on Liberty in October. How do you go about using the gift cards in the casino? I thought the slot machines only took cash.

Apply the gift cards to your S&S account, then transfer funds from your S&S account to your casino bank using the slot machines.
