Jim, since you’ve sailed SD a bunch, and ran ships yourself, are you familiar with SD’s HVAC system?  I’ve read that older ships typically use 100% outside air to ventilate cabins (good!), but some use the hallways as return ducts (bad in covid times).  How is SD set up?

Back in the bad old days when Regent allowed smoking in cabins I distinctly recall cigarette smoke billowing out from under the door of a nearby cabin nearly 24/7, that housed heavy smokers.  The hallway stank to high heaven, but we never smelled smoke in our cabin.  So it seems the Mariner, at least, used the 100% fresh air in, hallway out method.  That would be very bad for the crew if a bunch of pax with active covid were confined to their cabins.

Inquiring (geeky) minds want to know!

“Method” and “AC system on Sea Dream” made Hum chuckle !

Good one Raggy.

For the ghoulish scenario you allude to Raggy, the AC would first of all have to work.

Nation News Barbados is reporting in its online edition:

Seven passengers and a crew member who were aboard the SeaDream 1 now docked in Barbados are at the Harrison Point isolation centre in St Lucy with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, authorities are making arrangements for the others on the cruise liner whose COVID-19 tests were negative to return home.

Thankyou.

Maybe the crew member is escorting them as it was formerly understood all crew tested negative.

Fingers crossed for passengers that they can return home.

There are many here that are the Silent type. We just do not get involved and mind our own business.

Best way to stay safe and healthy.   Try to do the same in Florida.

Here in Arizona we have a worse plague than covid.  As most know, Arizona has gone from a staunch red state to blue in this last election.  All plague related.  The plague of Californians bailing from California and moving to Arizona only to vote for the same type idiot politicians that got California into the place they wanted to leave.  We surely need a cruise......  Or Ragnar's California Resort for displaced seniors to open.....🍸  But seriously, I hope all the best for SeaDream crew and management.  I like Trapper's suggestion for being able to contribute to the crew fund.

All crew have been tested for Covid and are all clear........another test in a weeks time meanwhile many continue to self-isolate until then.

Great news but they are still being deprived of most freedoms because self-centred guests only considered their “rights of freedom” or were they just plain self-centred ?
These crew, who have become dear to our hearts just keep going on with love in their hearts.

Sweet Jesus.....it makes Hum weep.......

Deleted post.

Were you going to announce your pool opening date for Jim and Hum and then the contractor advised of possible delays ?

Or did we miss, a much loved and enjoyable “Raggy Rant of the Day” ?
