Question re: Grats...select vs traditional dining

For the life of me I cannot fathom all the hooha about tips.

I cannot remember the last time I paid gratuities, they have either been

Prepaid by my TA, or as part of a booking perk whilst on board, or covered by any OBC we received.

Prior to that we joined the lines to get dollar bills to put in those little brown envelopes, and personally was pleased when auto tipping was introduced. One less thing to worry about.

I have always treated it as part of the cruise cost and don't expect anyone to bow and scrape to warrant the payment.

In all my cruises on Celebrity and other lines I have never experienced anything but top class service.

If I'm on select dining, I do not give additional tips, but if on traditional, and the service is good, then I'll usually tip the waiter and ass't extra at the end of the cruise.

Look folks, it real simple, you will be charged a daily amount, pay it, don't worry about. If you want to tip more do so, if not don't. It doesn't matter where you eat or when, it's all the same. The only difference is you might want to tip extra in the Specialties.
