1. need info how get to Miami {Saturday afternoon}

2. where to stay in Miami Saturday night.

3. what do wife and I do Saturday night; not party people

Now trip back home.

1. were to stay in Fort Lauderdale near air port.

2. what's there to do in Fort Lauderdale on a Sunday afternoon.

No, not lots of help...just a little reading on the board. There are many threads here answering your questions.

 

I would suggest reversing your plans. Stay in Ft Lauderdale first. It is commonly recommended to do it this way, because shuttles (the very commonly recommended transport method) get harder to get later in the day, if you arrive after 3pm, for example. So stay in Ft Lauderdale at one of the MANY hotels recommended here, then shuttle to the Port of Miami the next day, and get on your ship.

 

A water taxi ride is a great thing to do in Ft Lauderdale.

 

Then, when you get off your ship, stay in Miami, and shuttle back to Ft Lauderdale the day of your flight.

What are your dates? What time are you arriving?

 

It's hard to tell you what's going on in Ft Lauderdale if you don't tell when you will be here.

 

I agree with Bruce...Stay in Ft Lauderdale pre-cruise.

200 to 250 didn't realize it is so easy to shuttle to Miami. we fly back home 7:30 am that's why need to stay in fort Lauderdale on return. Sound like I should stay in Fll before and after.

Lots of shuttles competing for your FLL-POM business late morning and just after noon. The later in the day you arrive, the fewer shuttle options you will find, and the higher the prices. :( Uber is a good option unless surge pricing is in effect.

 

Your cruise dates are important - the under $100 room in July/August can easily go for $300+ in Jan/Feb.

You'll get a warning on the Uber screen when you try to book the ride with your phone. If a dinosaur like me can figure it out (with some help from my youngest daughter) you can do it.

That's what I did when flying into FLL and cruising from Miami. Stayed overnight in FLL precruise, then took a shuttle to Port of Miami the next day. After the cruise I took a shuttle back to the FLL airport - but I didn't have to stay overnight because I didn't book my return flight as early as yours. It all went very smoothly, but be ready for huge crowds at the FLL airport! Everyone and their brother goes to Florida for spring break in March!! :eek:

 

BTW, in general, I think Miami hotels are more expensive than in Lauderdale.

We are doing similar thing fly into FLL And cruise out of POM, we have 2 days prior to cruise so staying in Miami at beach resort booked through GVR , we are using Jiffy Jeff to get to Miami and then he will pick us up at the POM and take us to Hilton Garden inn in Fort Lauderdale. I think we are doing taxi from Miami resort to POM seems cheaper than shuttle, not ever used uber so cautiously avoid them! Pat

Please tell me Florida Spring break starts after March 5th 2017. we cruised last year out of NYC on Breakaway and it was NJ break and it was loaded with kids.

It's not about Florida, it's about the rest of the country that go to Florida. Northern schools usually start Spring Break in early March while Southern schools break later. Then there is the week before Easter.

Oh...While I don't have any personal experience with that property, I do know it gets a lot of bad reviews. In fact, it's mostly bad reviews. Perhaps Blue Heron knows more about it.

We are aware of the reviews, but we are going for the location the beach! We stayed at Marriott on beach in Fort Lauderdale few years ago after cruise and it was very expensive! Rooms were ok but we are spending a lot for air fare due to spring break! I'm going to hope for the best I have been in contact with hotel manager and he seems like a great guy! Some rooms are remodeled, I will Clorox the room if I have too, but I plan to lay out on the beach!

Booked YVE Hotel Miami through Hotwire and Sheraton Cypress Creek. I will not have a car so is there any good restaurants in walking distance. If not can call a cab any info is appreciated(not into the big fancy restaurants). Are these in a safe area and how far is the pompano casino and beaches from the Sheraton. thanks for any info

You do realize the Sheraton Cypress Creek is about a $50 cab ride, each way from the FLL airport?

 

It's also about 5 miles to the beach so that would be $25-$30 each way by cab.

Because one is a shared shuttle, where there could be 6-12 or perhaps more, each paying $15, making that trip.

Do you have a GPS? You really need one down here.

 

Which airport are you picking up the car? There are free shuttles from MIA to car rental agencies in Downtown or MIA. Pick the car up in Miami then drop it at FLL with no drop charge.
