caribill Posted November 2, 2016 #26 Share Posted November 2, 2016 This is a bit OT but does anyone know if the newer ships Royal / Regal are wired with a hard wire (Ethernet) network connection in the passenger cabins ? Nope. WiFi only.
WupperAV Posted November 2, 2016 #27 Share Posted November 2, 2016 I don't need a DVD but we like to watch movies and on a 2 week cruise there are times when you want something to do together, like without 1500 onlookers. I don't see why people from the US stay in US owned hotels in foreign countries but they do. Our friends went to Sydney, stayed in Mariott and ate at McDonalds and said Australia was fun. We went there, stayed in B&Bs, ate in local pubs in places like Jindabyne w/1700 people.

We are staying at a Hilton property in London because of the loyalty program/points that make traveling more affordable for us. And sometimes, it just makes sense---good location, nice accommodations, good service. We also stay in less familiar (local) Inns at times. I guarantee we will not eat at McDonald's in Europe, and will look for local culture. However, I expect people make the choice that feels right for them. More power to them. floridalover5623 Posted November 3, 2016 #29 Share Posted November 3, 2016 You just made my day. Now let's hope it happens in the next couple of months. I'm not sure about that. Internet manager said although they were working on it they were having a lot of problems. :( It's still something to look forward to in the future sometime. :D
Rare Woobstr112G Posted November 5, 2016 #30 Share Posted November 5, 2016 The cost is not the TVs (which will no doubt need to be replaced anyway before the ships leave the fleet), but in all the ship-wide cabling needed to allow the on-demand programming to work in each cabin. Exactly.....:):):) Bob
