Ok...please tell me everything we need to know about taking a Carnival Journey's cruise!!

We (DH and I) are booked on the 14 day Panama Canal cruise that is repositioning the Miracle to Tampa. We were excited enough with the unique itinerary but this morning I realized that it's also "Journey's" cruise and not really sure what that means!

Those that have taken Journey's cruises - what can we expect??

Done two Journeys on the Miracle- Hawaii and Mexican Riviera. Typically they're long, usually more relaxed, an older crowd, lots of Diamonds and Platinums (700+ on the MR cruise, slightly less on the HI one) carnival.com has an info page.

Just off the 15 day HI itin. We had 4 sea days with breakfast/lunch menus. Dinner entrees repeated a bit, we had Beef Wellington twice in different presentations. Lunch buffet menus also repeated a bit. Worst issue was the Alchemy Bar running out of basil on day 14.

We had four production shows - the piano one, the island 3D one, the soul one and the '80s one (never can remember the names) Also had a passenger glee, dance and crew show. Many naturalist talks.

Thanks! We've never sailed more than an 8 day. Curious....how many elegant nights were there?? 4?? 2 per week??

We love the Alchemy Bars - DH did ask if there was one on the Miracle before we committed to the booking!! Priorities 'ya know.... ;)

I did a Journeys cruise in March. Didn't notice anything too different. It was a longer cruise, new ports. We liked the Throwback Sea Day. Captains Party with free drinks, different menu options. We did enjoy the horse races and betting on them.

Thanks! I am looking forward the the return of midnight gala buffet. [emoji4]

we did a journeys cruise this past January. Not much different from any other cruise. There was a midnight buffet. horse races, frog races in the pool. local entertainment on a couple of islands, and an 80s throwback day. We didn't go to the local chefs presentation. Overall we enjoyed the 11 day cruise. Doing another next September, will see if its a little different.

I totally agree with the other posters who wrote that a Journeys cruise is pretty much the same as any other cruise, main exception is that it is longer.

I was looking forward to some different culinary delights at dinner, and the usual entrees from each port that were available were also on a 7 day cruise menu. I must have missed the 80's throwback night, maybe I was in the casino then. With late dining, the idea of a midnight buffet is kind of overkill to me. I didn't see the old horse races anywhere either, not that I would have enjoyed it.

What attracted me was the longer length of the cruise, some new ports, and that several Journey cruises could be done B2B. I did a 10 day MIA to SJU eastern followed by an 11 day SJU to MIA southern to escape 3 weeks of winter back in NY.

We mostly noticed the average age of the passengers was quite a bit older than most of the other cruises we've taken. There were very few children, and the people in their 20s and 30s were very noticeable. Having said that, they seemed to be enjoying themselves quite a bit. On our particular cruise, the ship was a bit of a ghost town after about 11 p.m., unless you were in the casino- and then it was insanely crowded. That could well be because that particular cruise was available as a casino offer cruise- which probably created a group of passengers more inclined to like the casino.

We did 11 days out of Galveston and really enjoyed it. I normally get a bit antsy if I have too many sea days, but we did enough different islands that the sea days were nice to relax and recoup.

We had a wonderful time on Miracle/Hawaii in January. All kinds of parties, great Trivia esp. Progressive Trivia (same teams for 9 challenges) our team won it all. They had a special "Academy of Fun" lecturer with talks on subjects like Digital Photography. We had a Social Media page & had our own parties, events & contests. Out of 35 cruises, it was in our top 5.

Yes - we're expecting an older crowd and fewer children because it's 14 days and during the school year.

Our sea days are well distributed. There's only once that there are two in a row. We are looking forward to the unique ports of call too.

We have already connected with other cruisers on our trip through other pages. I'm sure we will have some "get togethers" too!

Did the pride journey in march for 14 days. Above is right. Relaxed atmosphere. Average age is 52+. The CASINO WILL BE PACKED! old people love to gamble haha

Other than that is basically 2 cruises in 1. We had 8 straight days of ports which was in perspective a full length cruise in itself never less the 6 sea days. 3 on each side.

You will have 3 dress up nights. 2 elegant and 1 formal which is part of the captians gala night. With midnight buffet and ice carving and decorative plates in the MDR.

Enjoy yoursekf. And think you get get 14 points on your account. Gets you to the next level faster :)
