Capt Club "discount"

I actually logged into CC and found a special savings certificate for my upcoming Equinox cruise. I called CC and they graciously added the $125 savings as on onboard credit since I had already paid in full. Definitely check the site and then call if you find something.

I was thrilled to get an $800 discount with the Capt Club upgrade since the A2's were $800 less than the A1's at that time. My SIL and BIL are cruising for the first time and are paying $800 more for the A1 next door to ours. Lucked out this time around!

From the Celebrity Website:

One-Category Upgrade

One-category upgrade requests must be made at the time of booking and apply only for upgrades within the supercategory, depending on availability. Example of a supercategory upgrade in AquaClass: A2 to A1. Captain's Club one category upgrade excludes category 12, FV, SV, C1 and guarantee categories, Z, Y, X, XC, XA, W. This offer cannot be used with certain restricted fares including but not limited to travel agent and employee rates. Upgrades apply for one stateroom per cruise. Stateroom assignments only. Not valid on holiday sailings. Upgrades available from categories 11- A1 on all Celebrity ships except Celebrity Xpedition®. Offer valid for members who are Classic Level or higher at the time of booking.

The easiest way to look at this is that the price of your cabin will be the price of the cabin one level below what you are looking at (with restrictions). If you are looking at a 2B, you will actually pay the 2C rate.

The biggest problem with this benefit is you have to call (or your TA has to call) to get it applied. Sometimes the discount is only a few dollars but other times it has been a couple hundred.

I thought the upgrade was great going from an S2 to an S1 aft corner suite.

Suites are not included in the CC upgrade offer, it's only up to Aqua.

I think the OP wasn't asking about the one category CC upgrade, it was more about obtaining a discount on the actual category he/she had chosen if they logged into their CC account as opposed to just checking online, doing a 'dummy' booking. And the answer to that was in post no.2: No. There may be promotions on at a particular time, but there wouldn't be any difference usually ;).
