More cuts? Casino bb

Read from another cruiser that they were told on a recent cruise that the BB offer from the casino were going away and being replaced with discounts on future cruise. Any validation?

If this is the case I may be looking at spending my casino money on other lines now. These constant changes that Carnival is making are frustrating for veteran cruisers. They do give an air of 'cut backs'. I do understand changes do not always equate to 'cuts' (like adding Guy's, alchemy, and Red Frog). But after they just changed the casino 'cash' incentives to casino 'credit' a few months ago it makes me wonder.

This month I got my third free cabin bounce back offer this year, and had choices all the way from Christmas up until next April to pick from (maximum offer was 15 day cruise). I have no idea what the future holds though. As someone else stated, if Carnival stops giving worthwhile casino offers, I'll likely spend my casino money elsewhere where I do get good comps.

Just took my 4th Premier cruise in just under two years. First time ever I received a BB for a free interior. When I got home I was sick and missed a couple of days of work, so had to work extra hours (while still sick) to make up some time, since I'd just been off work for a week to cruise!

Anyway, I didn't call until the last day of the offer (this past Saturday) and was not talking to someone in the casino club (which is what I expected) but a generic booking agent. She told me there was nothing available.

So I sent a message to the Player's Club via their website. I received a response yesterday saying they could not extend the offer but could offer me a "cash offer" in lieu of the BB offer. She (Giselle) did not specify if there were limits.

I'm booked on an 11-night HAL cruise at the beginning of the year (cancelled the 13-night Pride because I received a casino offer from HAL that was <25% of the regular cabin rate; no other perks) and since I'm a CPA, I won't be able to sail again until after 4/15/17.

I'm going to ask her if that cash-in-lieu offer is good for a sailing after that date.

BTW, my Premier offers have always been only PC4 which has been a discounted cabin fare (slightly less than ES rates) and $300 casino cash. The latest round, again PC4, is only $200 casino cash. :(

I wouldn't mind if the bounce back was replaced with a decent, consistent discount/cash which could be used on basically ANY Carnival cruise.

I only wish they were more upfront with the comps they are giving you. I am tired of feeling like I need to chase down things (like starting a cruise with the DOU card, casino cash or even the BB if you already have a cruise booked).

Although I didn't know I was getting it, I had a note in my cabin 2 weeks ago at embarkation telling me I already had the DOU card. And for the first time, the bb offer I got at the end of that cruise stated I would have the DOU upon embarkation of my next bb cruise. That is the first time that has happened for me. I'm pretty happy with my Carnival offers right now. I'm not one to contact them and ask what I have coming though. I normally take what they offer me if I think it's worthwhile. And if they don't throw any good casino offers at me, I just go to the land-based casinos to spend my money. I can always get a free room, food, and casino cash there. And of course, the land-based casinos have better paybacks than Carnival offers. I don't really care for the wine, cookies, and strawberries I usually get from Carnival casinos, so that isn't important to me.

I agree it would be helpful to have more options for booking casino offers. Those of us who have to work for a living can't always cruise when Carnival offers say.

I received a BB earlier this month and was surprised that the there were few options offered - most of them 4 and 5 day cruises. Also other than a 5 day Sunshine cruise the week after Christmas (which I did book) the others were for January only.

In the past I was able to book pretty far out and there were many more options. I assumed it was because I got enough points for the BB but didn't go very far over the minimum needed - therefore a PMB offer rather than the other (?) offer that includes DOU from the beginning.

To be honest - I love the Pack n Play offers I have received. There were many more options and dates that were 6 months or more out. I was also able to book more than one of the cruises - I booked two of them on my last Pack n Play. I certainly hope those offers continue. I'm not sure I could ever pay full price again (lol)!!

That's interesting. I had way more options on my bb offer this month than I usually get. My offer this time is a PMI and it states it includes DOU from day one. My last bb was a PMB and I also got DOU on day one. The main reason I love these bb offers is because it means I don't have to pay a single supplement to cruise. I have not had a Pack and Play offer in a long time. Now that you mention P&P, it seems like those have gone away.

I've yet to receive a PnP offer. I probably couldn't take advantage, but it would be nice to receive one to see if I could!

I've emailed back to ask about the "cash" offer in lieu of the BB I couldn't use. Asked if it could be used on my upcoming HAL cruise. I know there's some crossover between the lines but not sure how much. Of course.

I don't expect the Player's Club to reveal their Magic Formula that lets people know what level of play they need to get whatever offers or perks.

Question

If, in fact, the casino operation is contracted out and is separate from Carnival,,,,, why does my 1099G I received from winnings indicate it's from Carnival Corporation, Miami Florida?

Probably because the winnings are paid from Carnival funds. But that's just a guess. I view that as different than operations.

Because players will know. Thus I will get responses from those that know what I am talking about.

But how are people new to cruising are expected to learn what's out there for if people don't take a few minutes of their time to explain these things?

Because it comes up in every thread about the casino. No one knows for sure how their offers/comps are determined. And they aren't going to reveal that.

We all know that insider info would be shared all over the internet and there would be people who would spend "just enough" to get certain levels of perks. That isn't what the casino wants.

I know in the past the BB offers I received had a lot of options, but this one for some reason did not. I was told that the PMB does not have as many perks (DOU for example), but since you did get the DOU with that code, who knows? I have really been spoiled with the casino offers & have my fingers crossed that they don't stop.

As for the PnP, my sister got one earlier this year with quite a few options, but for some reason I did not get the offer. Again, it seemed that there were no where near the options as we were use to with this offer - very few 7-8 day cruises, many more 3, 4 & 5 day cruises.

Thanks for sharing the information about the P&P offers, Shirley. It's very helpful to hear from others with first hand experience. It seems like there is a lot of misinformation that floats around.

I got off a cruise in early February this year with a bb offer. When I looked at availability, I saw a Bermuda cruise I was very interested in. By the time I looked at airfare availability and went back to book the cruise, Bermuda was already gone. In my experience, I think availability can change very quickly and the best cruises go fast. I kept watching for a week or so after that, and ended up getting an Alaska 7 night cruise for June on that bb offer. I was pretty happy with that and booked it as quickly as I could before it was gone. The moral of the story is that it can pay to keep checking the bb availability over a few days until you see something you like, and then jump on it when you do see something good. The list can change very frequently. I agree with what you said about the shorter cruises and less desirable itineraries. There do seem to be many more of those on the bb availability list.
