tiessa Posted November 23, 2016 #26 Share Posted November 23, 2016 I'm a smoker and only smoke in designated areas. Never knowing how people will react, I would just call security and let them handle it. There is no need setting up a hostile situation with your neighbors. I wouldn't stress over it. We always get a balcony and I've never noticed anyone smoking on a balcony since the rule went into place. No matter what others say, I honestly do not think it happens often. num1crewsfam Posted November 23, 2016 #27 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Just got back from a ten night Anthem cruise (11/10-11/20). We had an aft balcony on deck 8. The first day and a half was miserable with someone smoking on their balcony. We couldn't see where it was coming from, so couldn't report it. The second night the smoker moved to the front of his balcony, so we were able to see the red end of his cig and count down balconies and report him to guest services. Guest services was very apologetic and thanked me for the call. Later that night we walked past this guys door and there was a note on the door explaining the smoking policy and the consequences of breaking this policy. Never smelled smoke again for the rest of the cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Rare John&LaLa Posted November 23, 2016 #28 Share Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Maybe one should also "worry and stress" about potential airline delays, or their taxi getting in an accident, or norovirus, or.............. Odds are there will be no "balcony smoking problem". If you do encounter this OP, call guest services. Now forget about it, relax and think happy thoughts about your upcoming vacation :) There could also be in no particular order: Rock hard mattresses No pepper grinders Slamming doors Passengers wearing status pins Lights on at night on the balconies Shorts in the MDR Children on the ship Bad food in the MDR Rude C&A members Late boarding No chairs by the pool Bad weather Excessive smoke in the casino Meatloaf on the carving station Etc. Etc. Etc..... And bananas next to the ketcup Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app Edited November 23, 2016 by John&LaLa

The crew did seem to take it seriously, which is good. I was thinking that since the captain makes his noon announcement every day, maybe mid-way through the cruise he can reiterate the (non-)smoking policy too. I look forward to an entire cruise without smelling smoke on my balcony some day! Edited November 23, 2016 by mizLORInj
