On another thread is an evolving discussion what one can, cannot do, or use in their individual cabin. I came across this list from Cruise Critic - of the "do nots" that have been accumulated, once one chooses to enter this unique closed system environment, called a cruise ship:

Interesting list! Love the one about coming out of the bathroom nude and finding a worker at the window!

Another thing to remember... the "do not disturb" tag says "service now" on the other side, so be careful how you aim it (not that I would have ever done that and embarrassed the heck out of a steward and myself, nope, not me!)

Or find out that while you were in the shower another ship docked next to yours on the pier!

We were on a river cruise on the Yangtze in China, woke up and drew back the curtains and looked directly into the river boat tied up to ours with a man 12 inches from our window. Unfortunately, we both sleep in the nude...most likely ruined his day!

I had that happen on the one place we docked "tied" to another boat on my Nile Cruise!!! At least I wasn't nude! We had been docked solo the entire cruise at Abercrombie & Kent docs, so I hadn't thought about it. Opened the curtains in Aswan (our last stop) to find boat and a guest looking back at me from his cabin
