The casino rate has been a way to reel in the overall cost. My Sunday cruise on the CB. when you factor in my OBC ...35% casino rate reduction...cheap flight to Fla. Along with a generous. Casino cash perk. Princess is actually paying me $9 to fly and cruise.

If i can just cash in and not gamble or buy anything. ..ill be a big winner. Sometimes promotions work ...other times not. But its fun getting the best deal you can :)

One of our booked cruises is the same price but it's a 28 day cruise and there are 18 sea days so I'll keep the AIBP from the Sip and Sail promo. It's "worth" $3,155.60. With 18 sea days I will definitely keep the booking I have as opposed to losing the AIBP and "gaining" $600 OBC. A no brainer on this cruise.

Our second booked cruise is 14 days with the AIBP from the same promo. The AIBP is "worth" $1,577.80 on this cruise. With only 4 sea days it won't be worth nearly that much to us. However, the cruise is now listed as $100pp more so it would cost us an additional $200 to "gain" $400 OBC. ($600 OBC minus the additional $200 cost of the cruise.) On a 14 day cruise with only 4 sea days we might probably won't drink $400 worth of "whatever" but, since we already have the freedom to do as we like without a bill we will still keep what we have. It's not like we really paid for the AIBP since the cruise was cheaper when we booked it and we won't be purchasing any coffee cards.

I'm seriously quite happy that some folks can benefit from this latest promo but it just doesn't work for us. Congratulations to those who do benefit.

Perfect example you've brought up. The drink package in retail terms is $56 a day. BUT if you donk drink booze or coffee....just soda and water the value is just $225. As an alternative they give.....Ill agree the value goes up when you do 28 day cruises.

Another place i find value each cruise is in my 'Luck' in getting FREE upgrades. Money is Money regardless of where you find its value. Im a lucky one who gets an upgrade on each cruise i take. My just completed 10 day on the Regal i received' 4" Free upgrades. Inside Guarantee to a Deluxe Balcony.That. translated into a savings of almost $2000 over my paid price....

The bottom line is many of us cruise as a 'LifeStyle', not just as a vacation. And the #1 rule remains the same.

'Book when you see or receive a price you are happy with'......Now if we could only trade in the Mini Bar for 2 Specialty. Dinners--2 coffee cards cost more:)

Don't they always have a sale? :D

Sure seems that way. I am waiting for this announcement, "We are not having a sale and will embark on a policy of pricing voyages at an almost free price all the time and increase the other stuff to make up for it".

I have a booking for Jan 2018 that is $1024 pp with $75 pp OBC and free gratuities. The current "sale" prices my cruise at $1174 with $150 OBC, no gratuities, and one free dinner. So the "sale" represents a price increase over the previous promotion, at least in my case.

We were booked under the 3 for Free deal on a Western Mediterranean cruise next September. It was a great deal. We had a mid ship deluxe balcony on the Royal at $2799 pp. it included free tips, a $135 benefit pp, and a $200 cabin OBC. I couldn't believe my good fortune with this current sale. The free tips went away, but the same cabin is now $1999 pp and the OBC for the cabin is now $400. We saved over $1500 by rebooking with this current sale. It may not benefit everyone, but we really made out.

I think what all this shows is that "sales" or other promotions are essentially meaningless on a fleet-wide level, because the effects of a sale can be exaggerated or offset by changes in the underlying cabin prices. The company looks at each cruise individually and sets/adjusts prices according to complex algorithms that track and project rates of sales, prices, time remaining. A promotion is mostly just to attract attention.
