packercruising Posted December 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2016 Our passports expire next July. We are sailing in February. About 1 month ago we went to the PO (nearest to us for passport photos) to get them renewed. The Saturday after Thanksgiving I received a letter saying my passport cannot be processed as my application had DW's passport attached. Both applications had been sent to the same facility, but from there sent to two different facilities. The PO person, who got the passports mixed up in the first place, says she needs DW's letter for the reference number, before she can do anything. DW's letter stating that her application has my current passport, has not arrived yet. Do we have any options if this does not get straightened out in time? Ocean Boy Posted December 5, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2016 Allure does closed loop cruises and you should be fine with a State provided copy of your birth certificate and valid driver's license. Do not try to use something like a hospital provided birth certificate.
Clarea Posted December 5, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2016 If you are natural born US citizens, you can use a certified copy of your birth certificate and a government issued photo ID.

Four of us just got off the Allure Western Caribbean cruise yesterday. 3 of us had passports, one had the birth certificate and drivers license. We all breezed through check in and through customs. No Problems. Bill

Homosassa Posted December 5, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 5, 2016 I don't know what ports your cruise is schedules for so FYI, if you stop at any other ports in Central America besides Honduras, Mexico, Belize and Panama, you will need a passport. Same requirement if there is a South American port.
