yes, you can just get soda.

i often need gingerale at breakfast depending on how much i (over)enjoyed my UBP the night before.

 

i also dont know what the going rate is for the soda card, but even if you had to pay the $100 gratuity on the UBP, you would have probably paid $60 or so for the soda card anyway.

 

the nice thing for you is if you meet some friends who dont have the UBP, you could always get them a drink on your card.

 

last week i wasnt feeling well, no booze, honest, and i think at Taste they were confused when i didnt want the coffee they automatically bring and asked for ginger ale.

 

also i found at 90% of the places i went to get a soda, they dont even card you, especially the buffet. the bar always did though when i got soda there. some look at the card, some swipe.

 

i had the soda pak and my friend didnt and yes, i got her a few sodas and no one said a thing. she is a coke person so didnt want the package but couldnt go a week without something
