Live Entertainment in Dog and Badger Pup IOS

I have heard recently that RCI has done away with live entertainment in the pub on Independence of the Seas, this was one of our favorite night spots and was always packed.

We were just on over thanksgiving weekend; an empty stool and mike stand was all there was.

Is that just IOS or all ships with the pub? Cruising on the Allure in March and love the guitar sing-alongs!

We were on Oasis recently and I really thought the live music entertainment was lacking. Both in the pub and schooner bar

Just come back from Adventure of the Seas no singer place was dead for two weeks.

Spoke to new cruise director who was watching the house jazz band in there, and apparently the bean counters have realised they have made a mistake and the Guitarist will return on Adventure as from christmas eve.

Dont know if this is on all ships or for how long

Was on Vista last week and they had a guitarist in their Red Frog Pub. Although he was pretty good there seemed to be less live entertainment onboard. No live music around the pool deck during the day like we had on Breeze.

On the previous entertainment cuts thread, someone said (speculated?) that Royal made cuts that would only last through the end of the calendar year and then be restored. The reasoning, if true, was that this would help with their quarterly earnings report. No idea if this is legit or not.

Its a good theory, as the tribute bands are apparently all showing up again in January.

 

Horrible for customers though.

My wife and I really enjoyed Derek Lewis at the Hoof and Claw pub on the Liberty of the Seas this past spring.

 

Reading all the threads about the cut in entertainment in the 4th quarter really boggles the mind. One would think that the holiday time is the premier vacation period when Royal would want to put its "best foot forward," so to speak. Now is the time to shine, not offer empty venues to the customer who waited all year(s) for their Christmas/New Year's Eve cruise experience.

 

The accountants may have thought they were protecting the 2016 income statements, but in reality they are damaging the 2017-2018 balance sheet by discouraging the holiday vacationer.

On the survey, I always mention the need for more live music especially by the pool. IOS has a great Caribbean band that played 45 min on a sea day. Do they have other jobs on the ship?
