Wow. Shows how much of a gambler I am. I have no idea what is being talked about here.

It is a largish glass machine with a bull-dozer type paddle that pushes quarters over a ledge.

Does anyone actually have much success with these?

On one cruise I watched a family playing this machine. They all put money in at the same time and eventually they got a roll of $100 out. Goodness knows how much money they put in, but it was fun to watch them.

OK. I looked for it on Google and, of course, found a youtube video. Interesting. I guess I never noticed because I don't really frequent the casino other than on ships where I have to walk through it to get somewhere else. The luck I have had gambling in the past I might just as well write them a check and save time. :(

Does the casino on the grand princess have on of those quarter push machines like you see at arcades? The two carnival ships I have sailed on had them wasn't sure if princess would

Yes, but unless you're a fool, I'd stay away from them! I've never seen them pay out anymore than a few$.

I'm no fool lol, but I enjoy them. I spend $10 for an evenings entertainment once or twice a cruise, depending on how many smoke free nights they have. That said I prefer the ones on Carnival.

They are addictive.

I've found if you walk by and if the stool is out in the way and if one should shove the stool back in place sometimes some quarters will drop...

This made me LOL :D

We just got off the Grand's Mexican Christmas cruise, they no longer had the quarter bull dozer machine. They did have the machine where you stop the key to hopefully hit the area to release wads of bills. Several times I saw folks trying their luck there.

Although the Grand is our favorite ship to sail on and we would do so again in a heartbeat, some issues did arise. When we returned to our cabin later on our 1st evening, the bed wasn’t turned down, the chocolates seemed tossed onto the bed. Oh the horrors! I might sound a little nit-picky here, I just love the experience of being pampered on a cruise…so checking with our very perky steward, we found that with the new bedding arrangement, turning down the bedding isn’t required. So then I realized that I prefer to have things just straightened up abit, like taking a few minutes to remove the foot cover and straighten the bedding. Which after the first night, our steward Rey did and it was all good. The laundry machines were malfunctioning per Rey which is why our towels were often times delivered late. There were a couple of other malfunctions, things happen so we just rolled with it and had a great time anyway.

There were many areas where the carpet was new and the padding was very cushy. Sabatini’s and the ice cream bar had major makeovers. Upon disembarking we noticed a lot of chairs where being removed to the dock, maybe the lounges will be getting upgraded chairs for the new year. The ship was decorated beautifully for the holidays, Dan the CD was a hoot, Crown Grill was great, Sabatini’s was not. Horizon Buffet was a miss, the MDR was a hit. As alwI ays, the IC was terrific as was Alfreado’s. The aft pool was a pleasure to use (warm, YAY), the entertainment was pretty good that we saw, lots going on in the Piazza.

Tons of kiddos, duh…it was fun watching most of them enjoy the magic of Christmas that Princess did pretty well IMHO. Except for a couple of non-21 yr olds in the aft pool once in awhile, we didn’t notice an unruly bunch.

I apologize that if in answering your question I have hijacked this thread. In regards to the casino, my DH enjoys it better than I, he won a few hundred on the slots. I contributed to the financial gain of the fine establishment a meager amount. I wish you the best there bcccattle! Have a great cruise!

We're busting your butt, because we don't want to see you "pee" money out the window for no good reason! Maybe a few of us care! That machine you mentioned has worse odds than even the slots. The smoking in the Regal casino kept me out, so I didn't gamble at all.

I won about $1500 on the QM2 in 3 card poker. That was it for the gambling. It occurred on the first hand. Can't beat that. Put the gambled money back in the safe & took "house" money into the ports. Nice gifts that cruise!

Keith-

I totally get what you are saying- and that is a kind response. However, I think many of us do things on cruises that others might consider financially wasteful (re: Sanctuary, Spa, Bingo, drinking, specialty coffee, etc..). I do get where the OP is coming from- throwing $20 into a machine can be entertaining. And as long as you view it as entertainment- and not a revenue generating source- then it is all good.
