Travel Junkie Judy Posted November 12, 2017 #926 Share Posted November 12, 2017 It has been quite a while since I've visited this (or any) thread. In October I had to have my May, 2017 hip replacement redone. I do not recommend this - even for my worst enemy - whoever that might be. I am now up and about in the house and it looks like this time all is well. Thanks to everyone who has posted about Yannis and his return to the sea. We will definitely consider a cruise with MSC once Yannis can assure me that he'll be aboard. This is just another big loss for NCL. But then, we already knew this. John and Suzy - I have especially missed your posts. I'm glad to be back & hopefully I'll find a cruise to book. This is the first time in at least 15 years that I have nothing on the books. It's been a long 6 months since our last voyage and I really do miss seeing our NCL friends. So, who knows, maybe the next one will be with MSC. Sharon Rae and I wish you a speedy recovery and rehab. Your perseverance will help me get through knee replacement as a mere walk in the park compared to your ordeal. We're scheduled to make Ambassador in May 2018 and hoping to book our free cruise in Hawaii on the Pride of America in late 2018 or early 2019. Any chance of you joining us? spidybabe Posted November 13, 2017 #931 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Speedy recovery. I work in Physical therapy in a rehab/nursing home, and I know how difficult those replacement, replacements can be. Take your time and hopefully all will be fine and you will be sailing again soon. After 21 NCL cruises we "jumped ship" and tried MSC Divina (7 days turned into 13 thanks to hurricane Irma) and loved it. You will be surprised how many ex- NCL staff are now happily onboard MSC. We weren't sure we would enjoy the set meal times, but we loved that too. The dinners, parties, black card perks and special dessert presentations were all fabulous as well as all the entertainment, both in the theater and lounge shows around the ship. And they have the BEST pizza. Best wishes Safe sailing

John John, I think it's awesome that you will make Ambassador so soon. We are around 200 points from Ambassador. As to going on a Hawaii cruise....we've thought about it, but the cost always seems so high. I want to do Australia and New Zealand maybe with something in Hawaii. I haven't started looking yet. We spend Jan - March in Roatan, but we do cruise in the fall - up until early December, so maybe..... Judy

I'm feeling like this will work out fine, but after having it done twice this time, the time just seems to drag along. It is awesome that you went on MSC! And I'm thrilled to hear that you loved it. Did you get to see Yannis? He is the main reason that we want to try them. Judy

Rare firegal2539 Posted November 20, 2017 #944 Share Posted November 20, 2017 (edited) I have just returned from the 11/11/17 Escape cruise and here is a list of officers: Giovanni Cutogo, Captain Jovo Sekulovic, Hotel Director. Jovo told me he is going on vacation in 5 weeks and then will be on the new Bliss. Marc Spijkerboer, Asst. Hotel Director Kivanc Ucar, Food & Beverage Director Ferdinand Tolentino Fandialan, Executive Housekeeper Tyler Gray, Cruise Director. Tyler has put in for the Bliss but as of my cruise date had not heard whether he was being moved. Nomita Rambhunjan, Guest Services Manager Prejith Poovapadathil, Executive Chef Tanberg D'Souza, Restaurant Manager Jose Contreras, Beverage Manager Kimberly Bennett, CruiseNext Manager. According to Jovo, many of the department and assistant department heads are hoping for a transfer to the new Bliss but most have not heard whether they will be moved. es11363 Posted November 20, 2017 #948 Share Posted November 20, 2017 I did the match with MSC, and I was Platinum Plus - the equated me with Black, their highest. They also have an expiration date in 2020. I have not yet looked into whether a cruise will extend/keep it going beyond that date. MSC agents inform me the fine print only allows you to REGISTER your status once. Afterwards, you raise your MSC levels only by MSC sailings. But you don't drop down after one cruise. I needed to know if I should wait till May when I go NCL Ambassador or REGISTER now as Platinum Plus. MSC's highest level is BLACK and correlates with Platinum Plus. So I don't need to wait till May. It is my understanding that one must cruise within every three years to maintain the "match status", otherwise will revert to "earned status".
