55+ Discount

Hi

Does anyone have any experience of Celebrity giving a discount to over 55's and this not being passed on by the travel agent

I can't answer your question exactly, but we have never received a discount for being over 55. I have done dummy bookings with and without entering the fact that we are over 55, and the price was the same regardless. This was through Celebrity. I am in the U.K. too.

Yes, my stepmother is 55+ and we took a med cruise on the reflection a few years ago. We got that discount, we did book through a travel agency, but it was offered the same on celebrities website. Not many sailings qualify for this rate, so if you are looking at sailings and not seeing it, that's why. It's like state discounts, just pops up occasionally.

Virtually all cruise lines offer a 55+ rate. Travel agents pass it along if it is available.

 

That's the trick..."if it is available".

 

The rate is not available on all sailings from all ports.

 

The same is true for 'residency rates'.

 

So if your sailing of choice does not show 55+ rates, then that rate is not available on that sailing. But it might be in a month or so when the pricing gods in the yield department decide that they could fill a few more cabins by offering it.

 

Or it might be available on a sailing 2 or 3 weeks after the dates that you have available for your vacation.

Also keep in mind that senior rates are not combinable with Go Big/Best/Better pricing. So IF a senior rate does become available, you have to do the match and weigh whether or not its advantageous to book at that rate.

55 and military discount appear to work the best on Repoistioning cruise and is combinable with shareholder credit

Beav is correct. My senior discount went away when I added the Go Better Best option. But for us. that option made more sense.
