EnthDegree Posted January 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Sailed from Barcelona on 3rd October 2016 to Eastern Mediterranean aboard Celebrity Equinox. Daytime temperatures were always in the mid twenties Centigrade. Only rained twice - once for an hour when heading to Pompeii and all morning in Athens! Hottest day was 13th in Malta. pete_coach Posted January 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2017 We were on a big Celebrity ship in Mid October a few years back (Barcelona to Venice to Barcelona) and the weather (temperature)was great. We did encounter some pretty angry seas though. Coming out of Venice was bad as was going around the boot of Italy. I think the winds on the Western Mediterranean can come up quickly in the fall. niddwalker2 Posted January 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2017 October in the Med can be a gamble, this is the time when summer can say it's over.Sometime in October there will be a end of season storm. We have often sailed in October and have tried to get into Portofino on 3 cruises without success due to bad weather,we are trying again this year on Riviera from Barcelona on 17/10/2017. We still like the Med in October as the tourist hot spots are getting slightly quieter.
Travelcat2 Posted January 12, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2017 We cruised the Med. in November (the entire month) and had warmer than usual temperatures. The temperature in Italy, Spain, France, Portugal and Greece was above 70 degrees (21C) every day except one (that one day was about 10 degrees cooler in the morning but warmed up in the afternoon). We expected cooler weather and unfortunately packed too many warm clothes when we needed more summer/early fall clothing.
