Akjaroa asking for help as Cruising Tourists overwhelm the town

Liquefaction isn't the major concern but getting resolution from the insurance companies is. Whether a dwelling or building is deemed to be repairable or requiring replacement has been the cause of great angst with locals. Even now locals are still battling with insurance companies over repair / replacement. One insurance company has gone broke with all its assets outside Christchurch being sold off to another insurance company and the government covering CHCH claims.

Then there is the arguments about what should be replaced or rebuilt and the two Cathedrals are cases in point. The Anglican cathedral according to the owners the Anglican Church say it should be replaced but others have taken legal action against the church saying it should be rebuilt. Until this argument is resolved it remains a derelict building. The Catholic cathedral not as imposing on the city is still in the throes of awaiting a decision on replace or rebuild. My view is that the Catholic church are waiting for the Anglican dispute to be resolved first.
