cksv Posted June 1, 2017 #82 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Carnival Conquest Cabin 7385 Great location with central elevator access. Also very quiet as there are no crew areas around this cabin and there are staterooms above and below it. There was what looked like to be graffiti that had been cleaned up on the wall at the end of the bed. Also the air coming out of the AC unit smelled like smoke the entire week. Not sure if the duct work for this cabin is connected to the casino or what but because of that I do not recommend.

We found it difficult being so close to the front of the ship in terms of movement. When we went to sleep at night the rocking was very strong. Any other comments? One really cool benefit of being so near the front was that there was an exit to the front of the ship and a very private deck that wasn't utilized much and had great views! The cabin is partially below the deck 3 exterior deck, so we heard a scraping deckchair once and a guest clomping along in high heels once on elegant night. That's all though, it was pretty decent noise-wise, and I'm a light sleeper. MURCOTT Posted July 6, 2017 #87 Share Posted July 6, 2017 Special thanks to Mysticks1 on the Celebrity Cruises forum for this idea. I would like to begin to assemble one for CCL. To the moderators, I would appreciate if we could make this a "sticky" at the top of the page for all to see. I have seen this on other forums also and it seems to be useful. Please, refrain from posting cabin questions here so this can purely be an informative thread, especially for those that are first time cruisers or seasoned cruisers looking for a great cabin. The template is as follows: Ship -Pride Deck - 7 Stateroom # - 7254 Stateroom Category – 8K balcony Starboard or Port Side - port Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – NO Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -NO Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Good view Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - oversized Was wind a problem? -NO If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? -YES, noise Any other comments? - It may seem hard to believe but this cabin is directly above the Nightclub on the 2nd floor and the vibration can be felt and heard 5 floors up. As all DJ's do they turn the "bass" up full and it apparently travels right through the structure of the ship so that when you put your head on the pillow you feel and hear it. This goes on until 2 or 3 AM.

Balcony Size? This was not noticeable during the day but the couple of nights that there were late partys on deck it was possible to hear the thumping of the base and when the line dancers would stomp on deck. (With comments on problems) – Very quiet! No problems with noise. Not a lot of traffic at the end of the hall. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No, but balcony dividers open up with neighbors. We had 6 cabins across the aft and opened them all. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions...great view! You can see into balconies below (and the floors above can see into yours). Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal for class, maybe a little bigger since the room is in the largest part of the curve. Was wind a problem? - No, actually it might be too protected and was sometimes extremely hot with no air flow. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - some, not too bad. We just brought a towel out with us and wiped everything down before sitting. Any specific problems with this cabin? - None...only complaint is the hallway on the Empress floor aft always smelled like sewage. Fortunately it didn't creep into the rooms. Any other comments? - Room is a little deeper because the aft curves out and it is directly in the center. This gave us a spot behind the door for luggage. (With comments on problems) – There is a stairway just off the balcony leading to an observation deck, wasn't in the room much but you can here people during the day as they climb up to the deck. Also there is a stewards storage closet at the end of the hall so they go in and out there during the day. The good thing is nobody walks past your door. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Nice view but the observation deck is a little in the way when looking forward. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - My first cruise, balcony is normal for that ship but small from door to rail, maybe 3'+ Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No soot this is starboard, front top of ship. Any specific problems with this cabin? - Bed was hard, everything else was fine, a little aged but well maintained. Any other comments? - Being at the front and top of the ship movement is exaggerated. I would get something a little farther back from the observation deck. This was the last inside cabin located at the very front of the ship on Deck 8. It was located directly aft of the hallway to the Bridge and besides our across the hall neighbors, that was the only (very limited) foot traffic. The Lido was one deck up and very convenient yet quiet because we had Deck 9 cabins above. Front elevator to Spa and Sererenty areas directly above; Theatre and Dining Room directly below. Excellent and spacious inside cabin with comfortable beds.

(With comments on problems) – very quiet; only people whopassed by where the few cabins beyond it in the corridor. Very little food traffic, no noisy areas (like crew working areas, ice machines, elevators). Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? – I don’t recall. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructionswas an issue. – Not obstructed, great view out and to the left & right.Only drawback to balcony is that it is not covered. It has slats covering itwhich offer no protection from the sun or rain. If you’re a sunworshipper, you’lllove it during nice weather. If it rains, your balcony could be off limits. Some said it was visible from top deck- not true… even if they wanted to leanout that far over the railing, there’s a glass partition that prevents it. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? – normal size Was wind a problem? – only during stormy weather. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? – no- it had a fridge, a sofa, safe usedan old gift card to lock/unlock; bathroom was unremarkable. Elemis productswere great- just enough for the cruise, not a lot left over to bring home. They also had a fabric spray that I just loved- a combo of coconut and plumeria that you spray on your pillow/sheets to give them a lovely fresh scent. I loved it so much my cabin steward gave me a few bottles to bring home! (he earned a few extra bucks for all his care and attention that week!) Any other comments? – I loved being so close to the spa. It meant I used it a lot more than I might have otherwise. BE AWARE- tile floors in the spa lobby are very slippery- make sure you bring the slippers they provide- they’re yours to keep FYI. I slipped in my bare feet without even being wet, right in front of the spa desk. Thalassotherapy pool was okay I guess- the idea of resting in the loungers partially submerged in this miracle water never materialized for me… the bubbles made me even more buoyant than normal and I couldn’t lay on the loungers- I kept floating away! So I ended up sitting on the steps on the side. The thermal loungers were awesome! I have a bad back that always acts up when I travel (strange beds etc) and these were like my whole body heating pads! I have a bunch of pictures but short of loading them into Photobucket again, I don't know an easy way to post them. If someone wants to see the photos of this cabin, they can go to the review I did for this cruise, posts 23 & 24. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2127532 Great review...thanks, helped a lot! (With comments on problems) – For the most part yes, actually we thought it would be fairly loud but were quite pleased with how quite it actually was. We could hear the music from the Lido deck (right above) in the early evening or afternoon when it was really hopping but we were rarely there during those times and even then the noise wasn't bad. Our daughter had no trouble taking a nap in the afternoon! When we were going to sleep the room was quite. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Standard balcony view, no obstructions at all. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? - We brought a small fan for the room and kept the blinds closed during the day when there was direct sunlight. The room was cool enough but never "cold" but it was very hot on our cruise in Aug '17. Any other comments? - We were concerned with the potential for noise consider in the location with the Lido deck being directly above but turned out to be a non issue and would book this room again. I was very impressed with the shower, good pressure, water always as hot as needed. We also had the interior room 8317 directly across that was used by our daughters. Same notes as above, quieter than expected, definitely cooler than the balcony room! Good shower pressure also. :) Edited August 21, 2017 by Gumbo4Life
iriecruising Posted August 30, 2017 #99 Share Posted August 30, 2017 Ship - Legend Deck - 6-Empress Stateroom # - 6109 and 6115 Connecting Stateroom Category – Interior and Balcony Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – No problems with Noise in this room Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes. This is a rare find where a balcony room connects to an interior room. Interior room is out the outside of the ship but has no balcony or windows so it is sold as interior. Balcony View - There was a nice view from the balcony. But this balcony is unique as it is the first balcony cabin on this deck. The balcony itself is like a balcony and a half as it takes up some of the space in front of the connecting interior cabin. However a small part of the balcony view is blocked by the steel that comes up the side of the ship. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized Balcony Same depth as the rest but much longer. Was wind a problem? - Not any more than any other balcony. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - None Any other comments? - This is a great set of connecting rooms. We booked this for our family of 4 and it was great to only pay for 1 balcony and still have connecting rooms. The oversized balcony was a surprise bonus. Rare Essiesmom Posted September 5, 2017 #100 Share Posted September 5, 2017 Ship: Carnival Magic Deck: 1 Riviera Stateroom: 1358 Category: Deluxe OV Port side Quiet? Usually. However below is a hatch which may house a gangway, or they may load and unload luggage and other stuff from there. The first evening there was continual rolling, scraping, banging noises and an occasional noise like the hand dryers in the public bathrooms. Occasional noises during the night, but not enough to bother us. There was noise on the days we docked portside, not on the day we docked starboard. We concluded they might store the luggage bins and carts in this area. WE suspect these noises would apply to the cabins on either side of us, maybe more. Not a connecting cabin.
