Any internet cafes Florence or amalfi area?

Just wondering are there any internet cafes either close to port of Naples or within easy access of tourist areas of Florence and are they open all afternoon?

Are you looking for an Internet Cafe because you need a computer or are you looking for an Internet Cafe for Internet connectivity using your own device? Just asking because it would be far easier to find a hotspot than an IC.

Have you tried teaching the 'net using your favorite browser yet? I just did one and several points showed up, including Yelp...

Hi slidergirl

Ideally for a computer. I have a smartphone but can't seem to get email on it. Have time to try and sort that out in case. Don't want to be spending long time in a cafe either, with ports to enjoy.

If you do not want to deal with your phone issues, consider buying one of the smaller tablets...which are now becoming relatively inexpensive. They have many of the advantages of a laptop....with much less bulk (the smaller ones can easily fit in a purse). Internet access is becoming increasingly easier to find throughout Europe. Many cafes /restaurants and coffee shops offer free internet to their customers. Your crew will likely no all the free closest internet sites....in every port. Just ask your cabin steward, waiter, or any of the bar staff.

Because internet on board cruise liners is so expensive it becomes out of the reach of the average crew member. They do have a knack however of finding free wiifi where ever it is around the world. Follow the leader. There are also a number of apps one can download these days that will also indicate if free wifi is available on your device. Suggest you try a couple at home and see which one suits you best. They are available for both Android and Apple devices. With many cafes also offering WIFI for the price of a coffee or a meal you can chose where to have lunch of a snack

Sometimes it becomes almost comical with free internet sites near a port. It is not uncommon to find dozens of crew members (or a lot more in a port with multiple ships) and also groups of passengers all trying to use the same WiFi node. In many cases this can cause that WiFi node to be very sloooow. When this happens we used to start looking for another place. However, since we changed our cell phone provider to T-Mobile (which just works everywhere) this has become less of a problem. We simply use our iPhone as a WiFi "hotspot and link our table to the phone's Wifi signal. We even do this when we are several miles out to sea (our T-Mobile service will often work within about 10 miles of the coast). Even though we get lots of free internet time on many cruise lines we now prefer using our own WiFi Hotspot (with a shoreside T-mobile connection) since it is light years faster then the WiFi on most cruise lines.
