Empress Question ...

I'm confused.

 

Currently looking at an Empress Sailing, and looking at Oceanview Staterooms.

 

For the Tampa - Havana - Cozumel cruise which side of ship do you guys think is best or will it not matter.

 

Also category 'SO' is being described as Superior Ocean View yet on the deck plan it is Small Ocean View. Info for the room does show the size as being the smallest.

 

Should I go for regular Oceanview and what category do you suggest?

Neither the side nor any category below a balcony (which is categorized as a JS on Empress) matters much.

We too are going on Empress in March (Cozumel and Cocoa Cay) and booked a SO Oceanview Room. They picked it and we are going to be on deck 7, towards the back of the ship (which we've never done on any other Princess cruises). The pics definitely look very small, but that's OK with me since we don't plan on spending too much time in them anyway.

I was in an SO room on Empress last year. Very small indeed but very functional. As others have said I also don't spend much time in the cabin so was not a big deal to me.
