We are doing the Vista in April 2018. It will be doing the southern loop. Help me pick the best deck and room!!

A little about me, we prefer inside rooms because I like the dark to sleep:) We spend a lot of time in the pool and casino. We enjoy being close to both!! We are 30+ who travel with several friends and enjoy drinking, eating and laughing!!

I'd love to hear your opinions:)

Havana!
Unless you like the craziness at the main pool, the Havana inside rooms (2 on deck 7, 12 on deck 5) would be the place to be. You can hang out in the exclusive area until 7 pm each day and you have your own pool as well as two hot tubs and a bar to break in your Cheers card at. Have not read any accounts on the boards of it ever being crowded like the main pool or adult Serenity area. Also, you need to be at least 12 years old to stay in the Havana area, so no rug rats either. ;)

I love the thought of the Havana!! No kids (we have 4 and this is our adult vacation)!! However right now it's like $500 more per person for them!!! While I don't mind splurging some of my group may not be happy with it and I do like hanging out with them.....the private bar has me considering it!!

If you're going to pull the trigger on the Havana inside, you need to make up your mind quickly (like yesterday). Those cabins are already sold out for the 8 day southern itinerary in Jan/Feb/Mar of 2018. And yours has only ONE left, 5217. The current difference on the Carnival site is 1259 + tax versus 884 + tax for an inside on deck 7 rear which is in the same area as the 2 inside Havana cabins on deck 7. We are contemplating the same cabins in August of 2018 on either the Vista or the Horizon and the difference is only 330 for the two of us, not 750 like yours is. Good luck.

We went with the Lido deck and I am having Havana regret!!! Man oh man do I wish I would of splurged. We travel with a group of 10-16 and I felt bad making them upgrade. Now that I have researched it, it looks AMAZING!!

Will there be Havana rooms on the Horizon? Any other ships have them? Our next group trip will be May 2019 so I want to get my research done early:)

Oh and we actually went with the May 19th out of Miami, not April:)

Do not pick anything near or above the Imax theatre including the lido midship inside rooms. Lots of noise.

There are four sailings available in April of 2019, with two 6 day sailings to the western caribbean, one 8 day to the south and one 8 day to the east. If you can afford it, the southern would be the best because of the great ports that normally are only stopped at sailing out of san juan.

The Horizon will have Havana cabins, with a total of 79 of them. Deck 9- 8, Deck 8- 8, Deck 7- 12, Deck 6- 12, Deck 5- 39. They consist of inside, lanai, aft balcony, corner balcony and suite. The only other ship that has them right now is the Vista. I would get set up with a PVP if you don't have one already so you can be notified as to when bookings will open up.

Thanks for the great information!!! I will be stalking it as well as letting my PVP know. We are doing Southern this time on the Vista. I LOVE San Juan. Can't wait to book the Horizon:)

Just off the Vista - we were on the Lido Deck (10) and it was great, no taking the stairs or waiting for the elevator (my mother-in-law has mobility issues). Walk out of your room and you are on the pool deck or you can grab a quick taco.

We had a spa room, no problems what so ever. Id take a spa over a havana anyday even tho they look awesome i dont think its really worth the added expense.

You can only spend so much time in the spa, it's not like you can spend 8 hours a day there. But you can spend 8 hours a day in the Havana area, making it a better value, IMHO.

I totally agree. We had one party in our group that originally had a Spa Balcony booked and they ended up switching to a Havana Aft Wrap. They bought the Spa pass and agreed hands down it was the right decision. They didn't care for the layout of the Spa and didn't spend hardly any time there. Now Havana OTH, you are able to enjoy all times of the day and you can actually go outside. Who wants to be cooped up with the beautiful weather? They said Havana was worth the difference and were ecstatic they went that route.

You can always buy a Spa pass. You can't buy a Havana pass. Well not yet, anyway.

If that happened, it would turn into a battle just like it is on the newer NCL builds for Vibe passes. But since the way it's set up now Carnival generates more differential income than the 7401 that NCL makes from the sale of their Vibe passes. (75 x 99.00), it would be stupid for them to set it up in a similar fashion.

If you enjoy the pool, a Havana cabin is the only way to go. I am the same way, so I booked one of the Havana suites and my daughter stayed in one of the Havana interiors. The Lido pools were so ridiculously crowded, I don't see how anyone could actually enjoy them. Plus the water was yellow by the second day. The Havana pool, however, was PERFECT. My family were the only ones using the pool and one of the jacuzzis at 1:00 pm on a sea day in hot August! It's absolutely worth the extra cost. Plus, it's so convenient to go between your cabin and the pool since they are just steps away from each other. We already have our next Havana cabin booked for the Horizon. I'll never go back to a traditional balcony cabin again when cruising with Carnival and I'll only book Carnival ships that have the Havana area.

Oh im sure and do agree. they look really nice but out of the 3 cruises on 2 ships that have the havana cabins the prices were $500 and up for our sailings. And then i took into consideration our itineraries and figured we werent going to be on the ship that much so it made it even less of a benefit and just more cost. We were on the vistas 3rd sailing and they really didnt restrict anyone from entering the havana area (maybe to let people see what it was like) We walked right in and nobody said a word, we didnt stay but looked around since we were liking the pics online. To me the serenity area is fine and to be honest the sunshine had a better havana area and serenity area than the vista. But if i can score a havana cabin for what i get a spa for im most certainly gunna try it. Would love to try a cove balcony too, just once, lol.

The casino is forward on deck 4, so if the OP wants to be close to it and the main pool, I would suggest a mid ship to forward cabin anywhere on deck 7 or 8. The Havana cabins are way aft, no where close to where the OP wants to be.
