You been to that airport to get blown away by airplane engine?

I saw video of the airport where people can hang out near the beach to see incoming planes and get blown away by airplanes takeoff.

 

Have you done this and how you get there?

 

Is it fun and worth it?

Easiest way to get to Maho Beach is by taxi. We have done it also using a private tour.

We were in a van taxi, I believe it was $8.00 per person one way.

Also check schedule. Large planes are arriving at 12 pm or later. Not many in the morning if at all as they are from US or Europe.

PLease keep in mind that the 747's stopped flying into St Maarten. There are Airbus planes about half the size still flying into St Maarten

It is called Maho Beach. Takes about 20 minutes, by taxi for $7pp. We spent time at Sunset Bar and Grill, at the end of the beach, while waiting for planes to come over. Lots of videos on You tube. It's a fun afternoon..

20 minutes seems very quick from the port to Maho.

 

Traffic back can be terrible even with the new bridge. Cruisers need to allow for the chance of big city rush hour like traffic on the return trip.

Yes, it was a local holiday. We went over quickly, no traffic, but coming back at 3 pm traffic was very slow and congested- and it took much longer...
